D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

Well it's easy to shoehorn any caster into the vancian style, but I think it loses style; that goes for "spells" as well as preparing them. Now that said, a refresh rate based on an action the warlock performs would be excellent, such as "You regain this spell after a short rest if you offer...

    D&D 5E Playtested dat 5e at Gencon.

The very first line in how to play for cantrips..."cantrips are spells...". They are also listed in the spell list for a Mage (or whichever caster) and the argument they are not "0" level spells and they must be off a "level" the caster can cast is a little weak .. Now, I think the big red flag...

What's a good way to include many secondary combatants in a fight?

Skill challenge, where the outcome of the brawl creates situational modifiers for the party's fight.

How Much of D&D is the Rules?

How in the hell is this coming in at a weighted response of just 50% when we spend 100% time finding something to argue over "that isn't D&D"? So which rules define D&D in that 50% 1. Hit points and hit dice 2. AC 3. Classes 4. Vancian wizards 5. d20 to hit 6. Levels... Ad of course Longswords :)

    1993 - a bumper year for adventures!

1984 was a little nuts AC2: Combat Shield and Mini-adventure: "Treasure of the Hideous One" AC3: The Kidnapping of Princess Arelina B6: The Veiled Society B8: Journey to the Rock BSOLO: Ghost of Lion Castle C3: The Lost Island of Castanamir CM1: Test of the Warlords CM2: Death's Ride CM3: Sabre...

    D&D 5E Playtested dat 5e at Gencon.

True, but as a 10th-13th level module scale eventually has to break and the fighter class 1 attack per experience level against <1HD creatures was fun. I can't remember what the outnumbering/flanking bonus looked like

    D&D 5E 10th 5e Survey

You mean it was more than.. "Are you happy?" "Are you happier now than you were before?" "Is your happiness because your D&D experience is bestest D&D experience?" "What can we do to make your D&D happiest the bestest ever?"

Pathfinder 1E How do you keep spellcasting slaves from casting spells?

...now put them to work in the fields, should be fun to watch, if not particularly productive :) Why does the antagonist want spell-casting slaves? If it's not for their power then they are simply to much trouble to keep intact; cut out their tongues, cut a couple of fingers off, brand the...

    D&D 5E Playtested dat 5e at Gencon.

I believe the approach is going to be that damage by level scales very quickly and as bounded accuracy keeps all monsters a "threat" to hit, they can still be used as low level mooks, so no need for a special rule. In short, just like 1e/2e

    D&D 5E Healer feat

How about application of healing kit is short rest activity, but someone with a healing feat can quickly apply a make good (until the end of the scene) ... if the healing kit (medics kit) is band-aids, salves, surgical equipment for repair, sugar water (thinking a Napoleonic kit here), it also...

    D&D 5E Playtested dat 5e at Gencon.

And in a game like feng shui they were awesome. It wasn't until 4e that a mechanical devics was needed to create the one-shot kill, D&D never had that issue, and to be honest only really has at at low levels. I understand the mechanic and its roll in creating dramatic scenes, in D&D...

All editions have had this, its called 1 hp, and it was a pretty common in 1e with <1hd creatures like goblins.

    D&D 5E L&L 8/19/13: The Final Countdown

D&D 5E Ebay: Ghosts of Dragonspear

More power to people for making a market and a few bucks... Shame on WoTC for not making it available for purchase to the other 45,000 playtesters that didn't go to GenCon :)

    D&D 5E L&L 8/19/13: The Final Countdown

KoTS was designed as a combat intensive adventure to get players used to the new rules of 4e, and was designed by Mearls and Cordell. Now, that was an absolutely terrible marketing decision as it became the facto "4e is a tactical miniatures game," just look at the first adventure. If it was...

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

But, Mages are soaked in D&D flavor that becomes part of any campaign, so I don't see any difference. However, my point is not about "its pact, therefore not different", but rather the structure is different; warlocks were at will casters of raw magic/hate before atwill casting existed for PCs...
