D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

IMO the 5e strategy is inclusive of editions, not "best of", but as I know longer think that is either, doesn't really matter. That's fair enough, and usually that also includes divine magic as a demarcation as well. As this is a class system, those decision points should be around classes...

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

Regarding "its always been that way" - that's just legacy design, not a sound reason for what should be in the game, IMO. Regarding "doesn't have fiction": you're kidding, right?

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

The sorcerer and mage are as distinct as the fighter and barbarian, and the cleric and druid. If these are distinct classes so too should be the sorcerer from the mage

D&D 5E What about warlocks and sorcerers?

I hope that Mearls and Co are listening (and we will find out soon enough) that the Sorcerer needs to be a distinct class/archetype. If we can maintain the distinct nature of the druid separate from the cleric, I'm sure we can find a way to have 2 distinct arcane casters - and I consider a bard...

Pathfinder 1E Cool new Pathfinder trailer

I'd have expected something more along the lines of: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1176616619/shadows-of-esteren (and I'm a metalhead)

D&D 5E Final playtest packet due in mid September.

That's a strong argument. My concern is that from an audience perspective its the wrong way round. GenCon is full of experienced players craving new full rules; Christmas is the time for a entry level introductory product. Still, not arguing with you that we might get the Dragonspear like...

    Are we fair to WotC?

GrahamWills OGL was not a disaster for WoTC, the GSL was the disaster. The OGL was in part developed to provide a safe haven for the game given potential debtor asset rights with TSR bankruptcy, providing a worse case scenario survivability for D&D if creditors tried to assert ownership...

    Are we fair to WotC?

Got it. Thanks for answering :) Yes, Piazo is obligated to put under OGL any derivative content, but clearly they have decided to embrace more than just the spirit of the law and clearly publish IP under said licence. I'd go even further and say Paizo understands the play for free model better...

D&D 5E Final playtest packet due in mid September.

So if their 150,000 numbers are to be believed (and by the way, a little SEM web-trawling indicates that number is 159,000 so looks good), if only 30% or so of those were unique and still playing (testing), thats 50,000 players looking for a new game system to play with ... I don't know if I...

    D&D 5E L&L 8/19/13: The Final Countdown

Skills is where the d20 concept breaks down because of its all or nothing ... "successes" is a better way to model these ... going back to the system RangerWickett loves would be a step in the right direction (the +'s are ranks, and rank>=test is auto success, rank=test DC 15 test, rank<test DC20)

    Are we fair to WotC?

Oh, I agree.. Nothing worse than a friend who shows interest asking "so, how long do you play a character...", and then fumbling with an answer that is it " for the rest of your life" .... Mwahaha...
