    D&D 4E 4e and Computer Games

I'd imagine the a new Baldur's Gate game would be one of the first to come out. Considering the changes in Forgotten Realms have now made it the largest city in Faerun, according to the Countdown to the Realms articles. When comparing the success of the previous Baldur's Gate games and the...

Removing the enhancement bonuses from items

One large difference in NPC/monster design philosophies in the editions also means you don't need to load classed NPCs up with numerous magic items for them to be effective. You can just give them an appropriate attack and defense bonus, along with interesting abilities. This should...

Removing the enhancement bonuses from items

In Rich Baker's blog he states that his 21st level warlock was burned a few feats and is wearing +5 scale armor. While this could indicate that magic item bonuses are every four levels, it is also possible that he didn't prioritize armor that heavily and decided to focus on different equipment...

Displacement - a bit wussy eh? Mirror image too...

In some ways I agree it seems underpowered but two things make it more useful that a halfing racial ability. First, it is an immediate interupt action, meaning it doesn't take up a wizard's actions and can be used during anyone's turn. Being able to potentially negate a critical hit against...

D&D 4E Keith Baker on 4E! (The Hellcow responds!)

Note: I'm not a playtester so I don't have any inside information. But as I understand it you could get +17 even at 1st level in some builds. For example an elf with skill training, skill focus, and 20 wisdom would have +17 perception. For a human you could use the extra feat to take alertness...

    Pregen Defenses

Here's the specific one on armor: http://www.flickr.com/photos/benimoto/2307597095/sizes/o/ Not much in the way of crunch but it would be a little odd for fluff to indicate some sort of penalty when none actually existed.

    Pregen Defenses

Another possibility is that leather is +3 and hide is +4. The armor spread from the PHB states,"Hide armor can bind and slightly hinder your precision, but it's light enough that it doesn't affect your speed." Looking over the ranger pre-gen is seems apparent that hide armor doesn't affect skill...

    D&D 4E 4e Character Sheet, by Neceros

You could also consolidate the level indicator next to class, paragon path, and epic destiny since it should always be the same number. IE You'll have a Level 13 Fighter/ Iron Vanguard, not a 13th level Fighter and 3rd level Iron Vanguard.

    Changes in shields?

After seeing the +1 Heavy Shield of Protection had an enhancement bonus to AC and Reflex I decided to look again at the Dragon article on Magic Items. Obviously the developers thoughts on shield properties could have changed but the article stated: "Arms: These are bulky items that fit over...

    Backwards engineering DnD Experience

From what I've seen it seems likely that scale armor is +7 and plate armor is +8. Both the fighter and paladin pregens have heavy shields which seem to give +2 to AC and Reflex. My personal guesses on the armors: Cloth +0 Leather+3 Hide +4 Chain +6 Scale +7 Plate +8 Light shield +1 AC and...
