Crap on a stick, I forgot to write in Al-Qadim!

New D&D Survey: What Do you Want From Older Editions?

I'm just happy the Vryloka (a race I designed entirely for Heroes of Shadow) made it to the list! :D

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Variant Rules

But CON changes very little throughout 20 levels. Perhaps accumulating Wounds until it hits your CON, then you're dead. I dunno, just random babbling.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Variant Rules

It wouldn't be a "resource ticking down", but "penalities stacking up" (like a damage track, akin to Shadowrun or SWSE). Hmm... Food for thought.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Variant Rules

I wonder if Vitality could be made easier by accruing Wounds (and your max HP is reduced by 1/2 the wounds you have), and if your Wounds are equal or greater than your current hp, your hp drop to 0. SOmething like Red Dragon Inn's health and booze tracks.

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Variant Rules

There is no such thing as an "AC bonus" in 5e (barring the occasional shield). Armors and other effects grant a formula that already includes a base AC. Mage Armor grants AC "13 + you Dexterity modifier", so you need to calculate your AC, and then subtract 10, which is what the article said.

    D&D 5E So, 5e OGL

The WotC art directors keep an eye on composition, image quality, brand identity (does this dwarf look like a D&D dwarf?), etc. Sasquatch provided the art descriptions, chose the artists, and handled the back-and-forth between the artists and the art directors.

    D&D 5E Can Dragonborn play a flute?

As commonly depicted, dragonborn have lips (perhaps thanks to brass dragon ancestors?), so I see no reason why not. If a more elaborate explanation is necessary, a dragonborn could be capable of rolling its tongue into a tube (like some humans can), and use that to channel its breath through...

    D&D 5E Tiefling´s horns & tail

Nope. Tiefling horns aren't natural weapons. If you try to attack with them, they would be improvised weapons, or unarmed strikes (at best). Tiefling tails aren't prehensible. They're -- at best -- akin to cat's tails. As for helping with jumping, swimming, etc, you could just take proficiency...

AMA with Shanna Germain (author, editor, co-owner of Monte Cook Games, lead designer of No Thank You, Evil!)

Why is your editor so awesome? A "No, Thank You, Evil!" game is about to start: what character do you make up?

    D&D 5E Eldritch Knight variants

Fighter and Cleric combine perfectly through the Eldritch Knight archetype. Your spells slots advance in the multiclass table, with each Cleric level adding +1 level and every 3 Fighter (EK) levels adding +1 level (so a Cleric 2/Fighter 3 would have slots as a 3rd level character). And the...

D&D 5E Magic Resistance at Level 3? Warlock Familiars

It's not that much worse than a gnome, who gets "magic resistance" on Int-, Wis- and Cha-based spell saving throws. At level 1.

    D&D 5E Attacking with a warhorse

Sure, Find Steed is all about calling an awesome mount. But between Animal Friendship and Speak With Animals, a druid (or nature cleric) can "hire" and train a mount (by speaking to it). But that goes beyond mere class abilities, though, and enters the interaction pillar of the game.

    D&D 5E Attacking with a warhorse

That's what I said: A paladin's warhorse is like an extremely loyal NPC. Much like a druid's ally gained through Animal Friendship.

D&D 5E Pact of the Blade / Bladelock, looking for thoughts

Not really, no. In order to be useful, that +0 martial weapon requires you to increase your Str (Dex-based martial melee weapons can't really compare), in addition to the Cha, Con and possibly Dex you already need. "Any form you choose" means, at most, 2d6 damage. Cannot be stolen is a -- to use...

D&D 5E Pact of the Blade / Bladelock, looking for thoughts

IMHO, choosing the Pact of the Blade is already investment enough. Being able to attack with the pact blade using CHA is about on par with getting two at-will cantrips + Ritual Casting (Pact of the Tome) or getting an improved familiar (Pact of the Chain).

D&D 5E Pact of the Blade / Bladelock, looking for thoughts

I agree that it needs an investment, but I think choosing the Pact of the Blade is investment enough, otherwise it's really underwhelming (specially when compared to the 4e Hexblade).

    D&D 5E Attacking with a warhorse

An intelligent mount *always* acts independently. Other mounts may act independently, if the rider allows it. In the latter case, I'd call for an Wis (Animal Handling) check if the rider tries to give the mount a command it is not trained to understand. For instance, I'd let a character give...
