D&D 5E Pact of the Blade / Bladelock, looking for thoughts

My own personal house rule: When attacking with your pact blade, you use Charisma instead of the usual ability score.

    D&D 5E Attacking with a warhorse

Unless you let your mount act independently. As an intelligent creature, a paladin's mount always acts independently, and it gets a full set of actions. The paladin might issue commands (free action), either speaking or through reins/knees, and the mount (as a friendly "NPC") is likely to do as...

    D&D 5E Xen'Drik Drow

This. There is a tribe of Xen'drik drow that are all about fire binding, so summoning fire-based creatures (magmin, mephits, fire elementals) would fit right in. Xen'drik drow were also created by the giants by infusing them with shadow, so you could also use shadows (as the monster) and other...

WotC Survey Result: Classes OK, Eberron Needs Work

On the surface, yeah. But there would be more to the Artificer that I don't actually have time to write up now. Mind you, this is all in the interest of mimicking the *3e*, original Artificer, who had a golf bag of consumable items (wands, rods, potions, oils) upon which to base his...

WotC Survey Result: Classes OK, Eberron Needs Work

Something like a class that has spell points, and allots them to specific spells at the beginning of the day. Something like choosing 6 spell points to Magic Missile (creating a wand that can cast MM 6 times during that day), 4 spell points to Invisibility (creating a single-use potion of...

WotC Survey Result: Classes OK, Eberron Needs Work

... and that is pretty much just a tweak away, perhaps replacing weapons and armor proficiencies for Martial Arts and Unarmored Defense.

Sage Advice: Jeremy Crawford on Ability Checks & What They're Not

Having re-read both the PHB and the article, I believe you're right. But the wording of the Sage Advice answer regarding Action Surge muddled things up a bit.

    It doesn't. From the article.

WotC Survey Result: Classes OK, Eberron Needs Work

I disagree. Look at the Wizard's table. He gets Spellcasting, plus a way of getting some more spellcasting (Arcane Recovery), 4 school features (which mostly revolve around spellcasting), plus 2 features giving more spells. Look at the Ranger: apart from Primeval Awareness, none of the other 11...

WotC Survey Result: Classes OK, Eberron Needs Work

At what point you can change the Wizard until it's no longer a Wizard? It's pretty easy to remove the spellcasting progression from the Ranger and replace with stuff at certain levels, since the Ranger already had other stuff to begin with (spellcasting was just the icing on the cake). But...

    D&D 5E 5e Bastard Sword

The point is the versatility: you can alternate between one-handed Dueling, sword-and-shield and two-handed Greatweapon without switching weapons.

    D&D 5E 5e Bastard Sword

The bastard sword is the current longsword: 1d8 one-handed, 1d10 two-handed.

WotC Survey Result: Classes OK, Eberron Needs Work

I went over the 3e artificer, and found that the half-caster skeleton of the Paladin or Ranger is a better fit. Or, if you want to make it really distinct, the Warlock (replacing Pact Magic with Infusion Magic, and Invocations with Craftings).

D&D 5E Thematic Differences Between Paladin (Green Knight/Oath of the Ancients) and Ranger

Paladins of the Ancients are defenders of Light, of Good, Love and Beauty. They are the questing knights of Celtic myth, savvy in the ways of the fey. Think Prince Phillip in Disney's Sleeping Beauty, who is aided by three fairies to take down an evil, Unseelie fey queen. Rangers are defenders...

    D&D 5E The 5E Art is Awesome

Even discounting the character on the cover and the Guardian of Faith dwarf, there are still 12 non-white characters throughout the PHB. As for the nonhumans, there's an effort to provide variety even in those. Sun elves are tanned blondes, moon elves are bluish pale, gold dwarves have deep...

    D&D 5E The 5E Art is Awesome

There is diversity even among the non-humans. A dark-skinned elf (or half-elf) is even on the cover. A quick leaf-through of the PHB yielded 6 black characters (one is a dwarf, in the Guardian of Faith illustration), 4 asian characters and 2 middle-eastern characters.
