Pathfinder 1E Armor as Damage Reduction

Thank you for the Link Stumblewyk. Its got some useful information though i dislike the part about size bypasing DR. The amount of damage caused by large creatires is already taken into account. Otherwise that helps. I would still like to get feedback from someone thats used some form if...

Pathfinder 1E Armor as Damage Reduction

Im starting pathfinder after my breakup with 4E. Its been a few years since I ran 3.5. I'm seriously considering using armor as DR. I would like to hear feedback from anyone that has tried it or uses it. Any watch-outs, or good advice would be nuch appreciated. :) I am planning on the AC...

    Base measurement in DDN

Yards or meters is my prefered measurement method. I think it works out better and is globally friendly. I alsp think that 1 inch square grids work better with 1 inch (square) = 1 yard.

    Does race matter enough?

Race should be more of a distinctive part of a character than it appears to be currently. Specifically, the ability score mins and maxs should really reflect the race. As I was just posting on another thread...halflings should never be as strong as a human and a human should never be as strong...

Abilities Capped at 20 Won't Work

That someone was me. :) And yes the races need to be looked at with a bit more detail and distinction between them. A halfling should never be as strong as a human (without magical aid) and likewise a human should not be as strong as an ogre. Racial minimums and maximums should make some...

Abilities Capped at 20 Won't Work

I have to disagree with abilities going up with leveling. I agree that race is a primary factor and maybe class is a possible secondary factor. Flat math is awesome sauce! Though as a side note on races as a primary factor to abilities I have to point out the ogre in the room. In my most...

    Screw Nostalgia

After my 3 years of DMing and playing 4e I gave it up...not because of a lack of feeling like D&D...but because it was a crappy system all around. To me 4e was the first edition to go backwards as far as fun is concerned. We already have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th edition. We do not need to...

    D&D 5E 5e's big problem - Balancing "Being D&D" versus "Being Not D&D"

Thats a horrible reason to not strive for and attempt to make the best RPG ever. Nothing great comes from fear of trying. with that attutide why bother continues making any games?

    D&D 5E 5e's big problem - Balancing "Being D&D" versus "Being Not D&D"

And 4E didnt feel like a good game either. There was nothing truely innovative with 4E. It was a lazy approach to give the illusion of making changes without seriously commiting. 4E is not a good example. Admin here. You've stopped discussing and started edition warring. (You're also...

    D&D 5E 5e's big problem - Balancing "Being D&D" versus "Being Not D&D"

I think innerdude is dead on with this. The end product, if fun, will become new D&Disms.

    D&D 5E 5e's big problem - Balancing "Being D&D" versus "Being Not D&D"

[QUOTE=GX.Sigma;5885032]4e was the one where they threw away all the traditions and tried to make the best game they could. Everyone saw how that turned out, and it's pretty clear they're not doing that again anytime soon. Actually 4th edition did not throw away all of the old traditions. A...

How many Hit points does a sacred cow have?

Touch AC is exactly what I'd like to incorporate. There are many times when its necessary to know whether or not you have made physical contact. Such is the case with some spells and magical effects throughout some editions that take effect upon contact and not actually taking damage. D&D came...

How many Hit points does a sacred cow have?

I agree, that version of a system is a little too complicated. But that does not mean we have to accept the fact that abstract hit points is only way. We can have a little detail and simulationism with out being too detailed like harn is. The middle ground if you will.

How many Hit points does a sacred cow have?

There are different opinions on the effects of longbows versus plate armor. The construction quality of the plate first, And the construction quality of the particular bow. Not to mention the skill of the bow user. Longbow archers supposably had to start train ing at young age to get good...

How many Hit points does a sacred cow have?

Direct wounds and impairment seem like the right way to go. Actually crossbows have worked well for penetrating plate armor as well as axes and guns. Hence the move away from using it. Just because some attacks did not penetrate plate does not mean that no attacks have penetrated plate...

How many Hit points does a sacred cow have?

it wouldn't be D&D...? In response to the various statements that changing hit points would change the game so that it wouldn't be D&D… D&D has gone through many changes over the editions. Saving throws are very different from 2e to 3e and even more so in 4e. THAC0 went away and was replaced...

How many Hit points does a sacred cow have?

The issue with hit points…:D (For the record, I love D&D. It was my introduction to RPG’s and the only game I have regularly played in the last 30 years.) Yes, I’m aware this subject is rather popular and that may be sign that this is more of an issue than some think. Hit points have...
