Chicago Gameday - Last Comments then to the Archive!

Mark: Is this the main thread for all games, or should I promote my Aberrant game on the RPG.net boards? I just realized that there might be separation between d20 and non-d20 games in this way. Mike

Sorry. I guess with all the confusion over which way we were doing it, I didn't realize how short of time we were. All right then, here we go: Game 4 (morning) - "Skinny Ties and Brilliant Minds" (d20 Modern) Summary - Five MIT graduates, highly-esteemed in their respective fields, have kept...

Speaking as a first-time two-slot GM, I'm not going to be too upset with people switching out or in of my own games, just as long as my number of player slots is respected and not gone over. I played a pickup game last time around and it seemed to go well. But I can totally understand the...

By the way, can I have five slots for each of my games? I don't think I'm ready to handle 6 or more players in either d20 Modern or whatever I run in the afternoon. But 4 isn't enough. So 5 sounds like a nice compromise. :)

All right. Please slot in d20 Modern for the morning slot. If anyone else is interested in playing, please look at my game ideas upthread and make your voice heard! Signs point to our 1980s adventure right now. Also. I believe I'm going to look at my bookshelf and the non-d20 games people...

d20 scenario options Here are the six options I presented for my d20 Modern game. I'm willing to run any of them, but I need to decide before the weekend so I can start writing! :) 1. Army of the Living Dead: Zombies. Ordinary folks thrown together by chance in an abandoned...

Mark: can you just put down "d20 Modern" at this point? I don't know which slot I want because I haven't looked at games I might want to play at RPG.net and I'm sure I've missed a ton because I've been so busy. *sigh* Josh et al.: do you guys have a preference on time slot for my d20 Modern...

d20 Modern scenario ideas Okay, I'm going to run one d20 Modern game and possibly play in someone's game, as I did last time. So here are the ideas I've had over the past few days. If one, some, or all of these ideas interest you, please let me know. If the powers-that-be on the board would...

May I ask a question? I'm most likely to run at least one d20 Modern game, but is it okay to post ideas for one-shot settings and scenarios before I decide? I have four or five ideas, and I want to make sure I pick one that's a least popular to a majority of the prospective d20 Modern players.

Short notice: pickup game in IL/WI tomorrow? (1/11)

Hey, I realize this is ultra-short notice, but I have a jones to run something tomorrow and the free time, all of a sudden, to do so. So I wanted to see if anyone was interested in getting together during the morning and afternoon somewhere like Games Plus. I'd even drive to Madison for a good...

Just so everyone knows, barring the unforeseen, I will be there and I'm willing to run almost anything, d20 or not. I'll lurk for a bit and see what folks are really raring to play and then propose a game. By the way, I ran the pickup d20 Modern game at the last Games Day, 24 hours after the...

And EverQuest. Funny article as someone from the outside (sportswriter) looks in to gaming: http://espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stark_jayson/1201283.html Mike

ULTIMATE Chicago Games Day Story Hour

Heh, great summary! I'll try to get you a list of NPCs and organizations for the D20 Modern game tonight or tomorrow. Thanks! Mike

I appreciate the kudos from you guys! I usually despise running a game on no prep time and no sleep, but you guys were great players and made the game a breeze! I had a ball in both games (thanks to Matty Helms for the Cthulhu fix!). I'm still undecided on a few aspects of d20 Modern, but...

ULTIMATE Chicago Games Day Story Hour

Josh, I'll work on getting you the pertinent info on the NPCs and other stuff in the d20 Modern game, but it may come slowly: I too have much to catch up on the next couple of days at work. Mike

And hacking could quite literally involve hacking through miles of magnetic tape. :) Of course, excuse my typo: 45 years is a much better estimate for the Cold War. Not enough rest. Must... sleep... tonight.

Should probably also mention I'm planning on setting this thing in the mid-60s, so Computer Use won't be a very useful skill, for instance. Sorry I didn't mention earlier. "Cold War" does cover about 55 years or so. :) Just got home... with d20 Modern! Yey.

Hmm. I'm going to have to say no on those. The PCs will know about the paranormal, but not be experienced at wielding it. Is that okay?

Sweet! Let's go with 7th level; that should give folks the opportunity to use advanced classes. I'll make some pre-gens of my own, of course. Feel free to go with any spy-like character concept, but of course before their lives of espionage, the characters could've held any sort of job. And...
