Creating Davy Jones (now with Pirates of the Caribbean 3 spoilers)

It's not just his ship he can walk through. He did this on the Black Pearl as well. When did he transport via plants?

    Pirates of Dark Water

Despite being scary-looking, there really wasn't all that much special about the Maelstrom. It was big, had a water-tight pit for the Constrictus, and it's prow could open like a mouth to allow access to the lower hold.

    Thundarr the Barbarian

True20 would also be a good fit for a Thundarr style game, IMO. It's very easy to create new backgrounds and, with the role creation rules in the Companion, you can tinker with the Adept role to adjust it to suit the setting. Here a version of Thundarr that I did for True20.

Creating Davy Jones (now with Pirates of the Caribbean 3 spoilers)

Here's my take on a True20 Davy Jones. This is, of course, subject to change based on anything new we learn about him in the next film. I figure that his cephalopoid head, despite having the ability to manipulate small objects, is mostly a cosmetic change as is his tentacle finger. As for...

Inspired by PotC - Dead Man's Chest: Seaclaimed Creature template

Here's my take on aTrue20 version of this template: SEA-CLAIMED CREATURE (TEMPLATE) Seafaring humanoids who face death’s door while on the ocean’s are sometimes paid a visit by the legendary pirate Davy Jones. They are offered an opportunity to avoid death, but in return must swear service to...

Creating Davy Jones (now with Pirates of the Caribbean 3 spoilers)

There's a d20 supplement called CORSAIR that has templates for ships. There are things such as Ship of Legend and (I think) Ghost Ship. The next time I see a copy I'll check it out. If those two templates can be stacked, they might well make for a good Flying Dutchman (or whatever the ship might...

Inspired by PotC - Dead Man's Chest: Seaclaimed Creature template

I like this template, and am converting it to True20 for use with my heavily PotC-influenced Skull and Bones True20 campaign. :D I'll post it back here when I'm done.

Creating Davy Jones (now with Pirates of the Caribbean 3 spoilers)

The trailer shows Davy Jones to be quite acrobatic (or at the very least having LOTS of ranks in the Balance skill) and a skilled fencer on par with if not better than Jack Sparrow. www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=8627

    Stat the A-Team

Someone posted a version of the A-Team over at the True20 forum: http://true20.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=10522#10522 :D

    [True20] Anthropomorphic mammal backgrounds

And since I know that eventually someone will complain that I don't have reptiles in Fauna, I'll walk through designing a monitor lizard background. Ability Bonuses *Whatever seems most appropriate. Try to make the net ability bonuses equal 0, or at the very most not more than a -1 or +1...

    [True20] Anthropomorphic mammal backgrounds

I promised this a long time ago, so... These are the Backgrounds for my Fauna campaign setting, which is a medieval fantasy world of anthropomorphic animals. I created these using the guidelines set down on page 16 of the True20 core book. *Yes... I know there are no birds or reptiles. That's...

Creating Davy Jones (now with Pirates of the Caribbean 3 spoilers)

The only problem with that is he didn't say the phrase every time he called the Kraken. Trivia time! That phrase is a paraphase of Job 3:7-8. 7: May that night be barren; may no shout of joy be heard in it. 8: May those who curse days curse that day, those who are ready to rouse Leviathan.

Creating Davy Jones (now with Pirates of the Caribbean 3 spoilers)

As for his alignment, I'd have to vote lawful neutral. He isn't necessarily evil, but he does (as has been said) play by the rules. He acts without pity, but also apparently without malice. He offers lost sailors to join his crew, but lets them refuse if they so desire. There are certainly evil...

I vote that we hold off for a little while longer before trying to stat out and describe Davy Jones. We wouldn't want to venture too far into spoiler territory for those who haven't yet seen the movie!

Why did I do this? Because I could.

Oh come now! You can't tell me you don't get a bit of a giggle when I say.. "Nona-Macrobe Amidah Apocalyptic Black-Hole-Spawned Legion Elder Unelemental Xona-Titanic Outsider (Extraplanar) ... On a Stick." :D

d20 Star Wars Saga Edition news from Gen Con?

Most droids only have "professional" levels, and therefore don't have VP. In my short-lived SWd20 game, our R2 unit was nearly torn apart by mynocks in 2 rounds.
