Dragon 338: Returning to Athas, part1

More like a "sidebar city," since it was directly stated that it's really, really small... As Moridin said earlier... Nothing in official books makes Fey Step move you into the Feywild. The total Feywild fragments put together fit inside Tyr. Those fragments are scattered over a planet. I...

Dragon 338: Returning to Athas, part1

If 99.9% of the Feywild is gone, and the remnants are scattered in different areas of the world, it doesn't sound at all like you can run around in it for a tier... or even an extended period of time. It sounds like fodder for dungeons and small adventures.

Desert of Athas DU7 Dungeon Tiles - Review (image heavy)

I've got four sets coming in, so I'll be able to do a little village scene with that. Awesome. Welcome to ENWorld, by the way!

Desert of Athas DU7 Dungeon Tiles - Review (image heavy)

My only complaint is that on the other side of the wooden bridge/dock/walkway/whatever, they used the standard gray dungeon stone, instead of the orangish stone used in the Dire Tombs set and on the stairs/platform in this very set. Otherwise, I look forward to my order arriving.

Dragon 338: Returning to Athas, part1

You can't flee to the Feywild to get away from Athas' suffering. Why? It's the mortal world dialed up to 11... and the mortal world is dying. That means that the remnants of the Feywild (since, as stated, 99.9% of it has been destroyed by defiling, until only small pockets remain) are dying...

    Desert of Athas Dungeon Tiles

Making the desert tiles very Athas-specific would have made them less useful for general D&D purposes. This way, it can be used as a normal desert, or even as beach and island. Now, I only wish they would make the ship tiles sent out as rewards last year available through other means.

    D&D on CNN!

I don't consider supporting two (or more, since everyone wants their favorite edition to be supported) mutually exclusive versions of the same game line from the same limited pool of resources to be logical. Quite the opposite, in fact.

    Someone has MM3 at RPG.Net

If you've got gremlins, you've already broken rule #3.

    D&D on CNN!

Good thing he's not an actual spokesman and is instead a volunteer DM, eh? I was hoping we were passed this elitist nonsense here on ENWorld, but there appear to be those eager to keep it alive.

Draegloth, being drow/demon hybrids, fill that role nicely.

    Adventure Group Names

When I was younger, there was more of a tendency of naming our adventuring companies, but as I got older, it kinda faded into the background. We'd do it sometimes, but it wasn't really a priority. The Champions of Baldwar Mountain - My first adventuring group, back when I was 7 years old. We...

    Spearmage, Hammermage, Staffmage . . .

I'm saying if it was a rules update, it would have been included in the rules updates that just went through... since, y'know, he heads up the rules update team. It to be included in the rules updates, which are official. This is a book about player strategy, not a rulebook. We've got a new...

    Spearmage, Hammermage, Staffmage . . .

So? Just because Andy Collins wrote it in a non-rule book doesn't make it an official rule. Yeah, like the errata which was just incorporated into the DDI on June 1st.... which directly contradicts the claim you are trying to make. Straight from the Compendium horse's mouth: That's the...
  14. The Little Raven

    Spearmage, Hammermage, Staffmage . . .

It's still not a rule. It directly conflicts with the actual rules found in the latest errata and D&D Compendium, which are noted as the latest sources for rules and updates. So, unless it shows up in either of those sources, it is not officially a rule.

[Ari Marmell's blog] To House Rule or Not to House Rule

Then you should be able to easily name a video game that has a healing surge mechanic (a separate pool of "health" that directly limits how much healing you can take before having to take a break from action). I can't recall anyone ever making this claim actually coming up with an example to...

WotC should make an online SRD....

I just want to point out that Paizo did not build their business on PDFs. They built their business on physical products for years, then switched to a PDF model and retained their customer base. The multiple pending lawsuits that WotC is engaged in against pirates disagrees with your...

    Alternative to Ritual Components

Have the "roleplaying" effect be aging. After casting the ritual, the character has streaks of grey running through his hair, and lines are forming on his face. The Druids in the Shannara series suffer this fate when they draw on their druid fire (one ages himself dramatically after a fight with...

    Immediate Reaction Now?

No. That's a reaction. It says it explicitly in the description. They move, THEN you let your ally move.

What articles do YOU want written for Dragon and Dungeon?

Deities & Demigods: Tharizdun. More campaign arcs ala DMG2. Articles on classic campaign settings.

What Condition Colors do You Use?

I use Alea Tools, and aside from Red being Bloodied, the colors are player-based. I tend to use the Black, Dark Gray, and Light Gray markers for my monsters, and it's up to everyone to remember what colors they are using for what. One of my players uses a dry erase pad to track what...
