Design and Development: Battlemind---going... going... gone

And from what I've seen, this criticism stems from theorycraft, not from actual play. Just like most other theorycraft-based criticism, it is disputed by people who have seen it in action.

    What Makes a Deity?

Deities are the closest to being true immortals because of discorporation. When they reach Bloodied, they discorporate and reform later. In order to prevent this discorporation, one must provide certain items, personages, or circumstances in order to keep the deity fighting to the death. One...

    Hammerfast Reviews

I've got the Dragonborn book and DDI, and the vast majority of the material in the book does not appear on DDI.

WotC and brick and mortar retail stores - Greg Leeds weighs in

Wow. That third post fails on so many levels. And it's "renown," with no K.

Aside from Expertise, what are the most commonly acknowledged feat-tax feats?

Translation: People who spend too much time on forums crunching math for characters in a vacuum do not universally represent the people who actually play the game as it is intended to be played: in a group, working together. ...to people who are obsessed with big numbers. Some of us are less...

Aside from Expertise, what are the most commonly acknowledged feat-tax feats?

Word. None of these feats have been seen in any of the games I've played in. The math for the justification for calling these "taxes" usually doesn't take into account the fact that your character isn't fighting alone in a vacuum. Theorycrafting math crunchers opting to take a feat that...

    Scales of War finale!

PH3 Feats Excerpt: Superior Implements, Versatile Expertise, and Unarmored Agility

I recall the same thing being said about the power swap feats for multiclassing. Anyway, the verbiage on the summaries is different. The power swap feats explicitly point out that it is a power swap, while the skill power feat explicitly says gain a power.

Pathfinder 1E Is PAIZO becoming the next Wizards?

Because this stuff is just a thinly veiled flag waving contest between fans of different companies. What do the developers/designers/executives of the companies care about? Putting out a product they are proud of while keeping food on their table and clothes on their kids' backs. What do the...

    PHR: Dragonborn Mini-Review

I must have got a special version of the book, because my copy has well over 50% of the book dedicated to fluff. Every page has at least some small bit of fluff, and before you get to the feats, fluff comprises 50-100% of the page content.

    Dark Sun Previews Start February

I find it to be no different than the previews they've been doing since Dragon was in print. There were plenty of pages of that physical magazine eaten up by ads, excerpts from novels, and previews from upcoming supplements. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

    PHR: Dragonborn Mini-Review

I'd guess it's aimed at people who want fluff for the Dragonborn, since the DDI doesn't supply that.

Getting Overwhelmed by "Everything is Core"

I find the fluff superior to what was in the previous editions of the game, and the best part is, they don't overstuff their books with it unlike previous editions.

How big should a 4E map be?

My maps tend to average around 15 by 25 or so. Providing plenty of places for characters to move, as well as interesting terrain features and line-of-sight obstacles makes the combat much more interesting.

Dark Sun - Player's Guide rendered obsolete

Which would actually make everything cost more overall, since printing a separate 32 page book would cost more than including those 32 pages in a larger book. Also, while those 32 pages in a larger book would be pure content, in a separate book, several of those pages would be eaten up by ToC...

Dark Sun - Player's Guide rendered obsolete

After two settings using the original model, they probably decided that the DM's guide wasn't delivering as good a return on the investment as they thought, so they made the core book one that both players and DMs would buy. Also, for the Creature Catalog, that is highly necessary for a setting...

    D&D returns to the PC?

Unless it's officially confirmed by Wizards, I wouldn't believe it. China thrives on unofficial knockoffs of everything, and this appears to have just as much in common with WoW (especially the art style; first picture is a dead ringer for being inspired by Illidan Stormrage) as with D&D.
