Skull & Shackles Player's Guide out

In rags, no. But the half-elf's leather armor and the woman jewels should have been taken away.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder, optional armour rules, and energy drain

Depends on the type of attack. For creatures like vampire, energy drain is just a bonus effect of the slam attack. If the slam attack deals no damage, energy drain does not occur. Incorporeal undeads like spectres use incorporeal touch and so ignore armour.

    Dear WotC: Be Blizzard

To the OP, I want to say this : Too late, Blizzard has decided to follow WotC's path, they want to release an uncomplete version of Diablo III.

The Pros and Cons of flat attack progression

Well I would really love to be sure that your point n°2 is right. But in fact, flat attack progression could also mean that attack & defense enhancements will be in magic items. And I keep on hearing D&D little voice whispering over my shoulder: "PCs are expected to be equipped with +2...

    Something Awful leak.

That was my impression as well. I really liked 3.X edition, but I'm really not appealed by this new edition.

    Pathfinder 1E Metamagic in Pathfinder

The good metamagic feats in Pathfinder : Persistent Spell (+2 lvls) => targets must succeed 2 saves or suffer full effect Toppling Spell (+1 lvl) => trips enemies with Magic Missile (some traits can reduce the level increase to zero) Selective Spell (+1 lvl) => avoid to harm your party members...

    Why do players like rogues/thieves?

People like playing rogues because, when you kill dragons, demons or other monsters, there is more panache in doing this as a 50 lbs halfling with a butter knife than as a 250 lbs barbarian with a great axe.

    Stone Die Sets

I have a die set in jade, they are very nice and I never noticed if they are really flawed.

    L&L 3/05 - Save or Die!

I really don't like the kind of Save-or-die as explained in this article. I'm not a big fan of SoD but I think that if they are well used, they are something that make players more careful on how they play. There is nothing worse that a high level party who just charges stupidely any mobs they...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Smite Evil/Good question

Yes, if you miss your smite attack, it is used for the day. No, even if the text is lightly different, this ability works exactly like the Paladin's Smite Evil => if the celestial creature miss, the smite is used for the day.

D&D 5E How should 5e handle rules problems?

I really hated some books released by WotC that were full of loopholes, overpowered or untested stuff. So I would really like to see a 5th edition that is well written and fully supported. but you know what : I don't think I will have it. The designated goals of D&D Next are compatibility...

    OotS #840 is up

I'm not sure Haley isn't lying about her search ranks ; the kobold is a good reason to let someone risk his life trying to find traps : he is a rogue, no one in the party cares about him and he can't refuse. And believe me, I played enough CN rogues to know all the tricks !! ;)

L&L: The Challenges of High Level Play

I'm still confused with those polls. If WotC already has D&D Next in alpha stage (as they are making some playtests), what is the point of asking players what they want for 5th edition ?? Just let us try the alpha version and listen to what we like/dislike about it !! Sometimes I have the...

    OotS 836 is up..

Knowing Elan's very special logic and Tarquin's feelings about his former wives, I really don't think that is Elan's plan. I'm sure Elan wants to use Nale against his father, to have some kind of father-&-son special moment in the middle of the battle.

I felt theurge to give you XP, but the forum doesn't want me to !! ;)

Which core races have you played?

Most often Human, Elf or Half-elf. On some special occasions, Dwarf or halfling (who feel discriminated for not being in the list of core races).

How do you like your elves?

I enjoy playing elves a lot. Il really dislike elves when they are depicted as some kind of angels or flawless humans. I want elves to be close to humans in appearance but with a very different mindset, due to a very long lifespan or an alien education. What they are exactly is not important...

    Can a Whip be 'Vorpal'

The Whip-dagger from Sword & Fist deals lethal damage. By RAW, a whip could have the Vorpale property, but a wise move could be to consider that the Vorpale effect can only work if the whip deals damage.

The return of the Male Human Fighter!

IIRC, Monte Cook said once that they wanted to get rid of the human male fighter cliché and they choose a dwarf as fighter iconic. But the marketing department disliked it and they insisted on having a male human. Devs had no choice but to obey, so they took their revenge and killed Regnar in...

    A mini-rant re: Pathfinder and D&D

Is Pathfinder D&D or not ? Well I think the best answer I could give is : D&D : James Jacobs never told you what happened to your father. Pathfinder : He told me enough! He told me YOU killed him. D&D: Pathfinder, I am your father. Pathfinder : NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !! ;)
