OK. As long as we're dreaming, and throwing the budget out the window, let's install this SMART board in the center of the game table. Pass me a another tankard of Dom Perignon, and get me some more beluga caviar to dip my Fritos in! :D

That's exactly what I do with my setup. Though I usually grab a sample of the "negative space" texture and tile it for the mask (or fog of war) layer instead of just using a solid black color. Here's a screenshot of a projected map: The red secret door and trap symbols are on separate layers...

This is one of the things I like about using Photoshop. I can reveal exactly what I want. Other Photoshop niceties: - Really easy zooming so you can see the whole layout. - Scrolling via the "hand tool" - much faster and more accurate than using scroll bars. - Great spell area effects...

I've been using my old 'n busted projector (InFocus LP425z) for about three years of game sessions. One session per week, for about 8-10 hours each (we're kind of marathon gamers). I haven't burned out a bulb yet. We have a backup bulb I bought for a song on ebay, but it's still in it's box. We...

This is really the time saver for me. My players demand to have a very accurate map. We have a great time with the table top tactics aspect of the game. My players like to focus on problem solving, plot resolution, character design, and combat. I can certainly see how a projected map would be...

I have a bunch of pictures on the page Steel_Wind asked me to set up when he read my letter to Dungeon: http://www.d20srd.org/extras/mapProjection.htm I've seen other pix on other threads also. Steel_Wind probably has a list of URLs...

$10/hour is pretty low. That's only about 20k per year. We're all family men in my game. I'd say our average income is at least double that, but let's still use $10/hour. Don't forget that for a "standard" party of four, you have five people sitting at the table. That's $50/hour (at $10/each)...

One more thing: If you want to set the mood and help your players visualize the environment, there's nothing like projecting visual aids! My players get all excited when I say "Oh! I have a picture of this..." and project it onto the table. I use lots of Dungeon Magazine adventures. They have...

One aspect of digital projection mapping that I haven't seen addressed on this thread is speed. This is one of the biggest impacts on the gaming experience our setup has had for us. We used to waste hours of game time on drawing relatively crappy-looking maps. Even with a dry erase battle mat...

    Gaming in Iraq

Having very little experience with the military, I'm curious about the reaction playing D&D got from non-gaming soldiers. I grew up in a small, midwestern town & caught a lot of flak for gaming. I guess I picture the military a similarly conservative environment.

I recently got a couple of emails from one of my Hypertext d20 SRD subcribers that really got me jazzed. Thought I'd share (with the author's permission of course)... Accessibility was always one of the main goals of my site's mission, but I never really anticipated that someone might have...

    3.5 d20 SRD Project

That certainly would be useful, but it's a bit outside of my purview. I've avoided adding to the SRD so far. Perhaps this would be a good addition to my site "extras". I broke up the Summon Monster & Summon Nature's Ally tables. It increases scrolling, but the tables are now clearly associated...

I currently link to the MM pix. Just click the eye icon next to the monster name. I'll certainly plan on linking to the other relevant pix! Thanks.

    3.5 d20 SRD Project

This is really two suggestions: First is that the pages be dynamically generated. On this I disagree. The content is static as opposed to a catalog site, or a portal, or news aggregator, or discussion board, etc. I don't see any advantage to serving the pages up on the fly, and there certainly...

No problem Orius. It displays very well in any modern, standards compliant browser. Take your pick: - Mozilla - Firefox - Opera - Safari (Mac) - Konqueror (Linux)

    3.5 d20 SRD Project

I've been working on this project for a while and I'm looking for suggestions: http://www.d20srd.org Current plans for changes & features include: - A monster filter. example: show all Abberations with a Challenge Rating from 5 to 7. - A spell filter. example: show all 3rd level wizard...
