    D&D 5E Player's Handbook Official Errata

He's saying it's misguided because Elemental Monk is widely acknowledged as a terribly underpowered subclass, down there scraping the barrel with Beastmaster, and water whip was the only good thing it had going. Now it's nerfed instead of actually bringing the class up to par. Hence misguided...

    D&D 5E Player's Handbook Official Errata

Are you serious? You're saying it's balanced because at level 17 my cantrip is doing 4d10? Really? Alright, you want to compare endgame, aka the levels that less than 1% of the playerbase will ever experience? Let's do math funtime! Sorcerer Fire Bolt at 20: 4d10+5 = 27! And you can twin it up...

    D&D 5E Player's Handbook Official Errata

Okay, no Power Attack at all: New Scorching Ray (6d6+5=26) vs. Raging Reckless (auto-advantage) Swing (2d12+14=27 or 3d12+21=40.5). No, that's not good enough. I run out of Scorching Rays much faster than a martial runs out of swings, but I'm getting either less damage (remember, no...

    D&D 5E Player's Handbook Official Errata

As a person who has played a Sorcerer from levels 1-7 so far, and all I want to do is be a blaster, these changes really suck. Levels 1-4 I put up with subpar damage. I was the squishy hiding in the back while the barbarian did all the work. Sometimes I got to shine briefly with a good burning...

D&D 5E To feats or not to feats...

I believe so. I'm pretty sure at least. We decided to implement it after I was revived in a battle 4+ times and got back into the action each time without skipping a beat. Hilarious but a little too silly.

D&D 5E To feats or not to feats...

The swap to +1str/dex is wonderful. This is what I'll do if/when I start adding houserules to my games. (I technically already play a houserule, when you are knocked unconscious and brought back you suffer 1 level of exhaustion, but it's an "official" variant from the DMG.)

D&D 5E To feats or not to feats...

You don't need to be a "twink" to abuse the -5/+10 ability. My playgroup aren't min maxers but a friend did the standard half orc barbarian with greataxe and GWM, pretty much the standard build. He'd rage and pretty much every attack is relentless power attack, on-demand advantage. Only against...

D&D 5E To feats or not to feats...

Heavy Armor feat definitely seems too good early on. It nullifies the damage of your average early game baddies, goblins kobolds zombies etc. I think if your entire party had this it would be problematic, but if its just one dude its not so bad because he's not the only one that will be...

Looks Like Goodman Games Has Another 5E Adventure!

Does GG have a deal with these forums or can anyone advertise like this? Speaking as a person looking to publish my own stuff.

    D&D 5E Statting Sorin Markov in 5e

I'm finishing a free adventure module set in the world of Magic: The Gathering's Innistrad. The planeswalker Sorin Markov will be making an appearance to chat with the PCs. I'm having difficulties figuring out how to stat him, however. Variant Vampire Spellcaster (MM p298) seems like a good...

    April's D&D Feedback Survey Results

In this survey I called out Crown of Madness as the prime example of Wizards nerfing Enchantment (and offensive Illusion) spells too hard. They used to be too powerful in 3e and now the majority of them are absolutely terrible. Also, please nerf Polymorph. My barbarian friend wouldn't let me...

D&D 5E Scaling the number of off-hand attacks?

The real problem that nobody has mentioned is feats: Sharpshooter and Great Weapon Master. These are what leaves TWF in the dust, because TWF has no feat available that matches their power. Both feats offer "power attack," aka -5 attack penalty for +10 damage. This damage boost is enormous --...

    D&D 5E 5E Playtesters: How Was It?

I didn't participate in the playtest period of 5E, before it was officially released. I'd love to hear from people who did participate though. What was it like? What were some significant changes? I'm a big fan of the edition as a whole, but I wonder how some of the more obvious blunders, such...

    D&D 5E Favored Soul: Overpowered?

So, having created some Favored Souls, trying out different combinations... ... I changed my mind. Yes, getting access to Cleric domains is strong. Life Domain is my favorite so far. Bless, Spiritual Weapon, plus utility is great. Having all those extra spells, especially strong ones outside...

D&D 5E Convince me we're doing the Warlock wrong

I see the Warlock as a magical archer. "Gish" I guess? And they do it right. You've got your magical superbow. Does good damage, force lets you bypass most resistances that regular bows would struggle with. Then you've got your spells. Restrictive? Yes, absolutely, but you're not a pure...

    D&D 5E Favored Soul: Overpowered?

What theoretical arguments? Are you saying that an FS having 20 spells known over other sorcerers' 10 known at level 9 is purely theoretical? Or that having access to medium armor + shield is theoretical? What detailed step by step process do you require? Yes, it does. It's overpowered...

    D&D 5E Favored Soul: Overpowered?

Er.. seriously? I mean, if you read my OP and the followup post, I made it very clear why I think it's overpowered compared to the other two origins.

    D&D 5E Favored Soul: Overpowered?

As someone who has been playing a Sorcerer for 7 levels, yes, it's definitely a major addition. You have double the spells known at 1, 3, 5, 7, 9. 4 instead of 2 at 1st, then 8 instead of 4 at 3rd, etc. I'm not seeing the redundancy. Look at Life Domain. Bless? Not redundant -- sorcerer can't do...

    D&D 5E Favored Soul: Overpowered?

Haven't looked at the spell-less variant. Even worse? Jeeze. I'm glad that he's willing to listen and transparent in his thought process though. Even though I greatly disagree with his balance point, especially when it contradicts his own philosophy on balancing, I'm glad that he's taking the...

    D&D 5E Favored Soul: Overpowered?

I got Rodney to respond to this on Twitter: https://twitter.com/wotc_rodney/with_replies I really appreciate him answering me, but I disagree with just about everything. 1) True, it's a fixed and limited grouping, but the spell lists are incredibly powerful and gives you access to spells...
