    Pseudo-Australasian campaign settings?

It does. In it, the Red Centre has been filled with an enormous inland sea. I haven't checked it out in detail, but I'd prefer the deserts to play a part in an Australian setting. I'm also trying to nut out a post-apocalyptic Oz setting. The one hassle is that it won't have a feature which...

    Exeunt gnomes: bang or whimper?

Yes. Bulette yum-cha. Indeed, but some campaign settings have gnome-only civilisations (such as FR's lantan), which may seem a little incongruous if they're relegated out of the PHB.

    Pseudo-Australasian campaign settings?

Real-world analogues are a common standby for campaign settings, but I haven't seen any that take place in a fantasy Australasia. Has anyone got a homebrew they'd like to share, or a published setting I've overlooked?

    Exeunt gnomes: bang or whimper?

Wondering, do you think gnomes will simply disappear from 4E, as old-style halflings did, or will the campaign world sourcebooks account for their demise?

There's Powerful Deviltry at Work Here...

Buffy, Harry Potter, WoW... All have demonic themes. These are less puritan times. Occult-ish memes are more mainstream, and the moral panic over D&D was largely confined to America. I don't like tieflings because I just don't, but condemnation of the game is the least of my worries.

The Curse of the 100gp Pearl

I agree with you 100%. If anything, I'd also make detect magic less effective, so that it's difficult to just pile up the loot and pick out the magic items. For me, the utilitarian approach to magic items has degraded the sense that they are special treasures.

Now Wizards HAS gone too far!!

It's definitely wuxia, and reeks of MMOs.

    Post-apocalypse & fantasy races

Thanks for the tips. That's a good setup, elvnsword. I'm trying to avoid the mutation-race concept, but faerie hunts as TV sport is a concept I'll gladly steal, if you don't mind. Ah, yes! I was wondering how I could work CERN's new toy into it.

From the WotC Boards: Mearls on 'Aggro'

I'd be interested to know how common this is. Personally, I've had several arguments with players who believe monsters would attack PC X instead of PC Y, even though an intelligent opponent would target healers, magic-users, and backstabbers.

Ah, useful. In my homeland, Agro is some sort of TV goblin.

Priest arrested on charge of stalking Conan

Of course, when it's reported in the Hyborian Times, "priest" means "depraved arch-lich risen from the bowels of Hell." I suspect O'Brien's stalker is a bit milder.

    Are we there yet?

"I'm hungry! When we get there can I have a McGritty Low-magic burger?" "No! I want to go to Wuxia Anime Hut!" "Stop whining, or all you'll get is d02, and everyone hats that!"

D&D 4E What will be your 4e setting?

FR is standard for me, but I would like to take a look at some third-party settings (like Harn). The FR update and Spellplague sounds exciting, but I'll wait for the release to decide.

    FR's other continents?

The "unknown lands": http://images.wikia.com/forgottenrealms/images/d/dd/Abeir-Toril.JPG Has anything been published regarding their contents? Otherwise, who has used them in a campaign, and how?

    E6: The Game Inside D&D

Sorry I'm late to the party. I can't believe I've missed this so long - it looks like everything I wanted 3E to be. Just so I have this straight: up until 6th level, characters progress according to the standard PHB XP charts, and receive feats and skills at standard rates. After that, they...

    An end to scry-buff-teleport?

Well, wish is gone, to the delight of some and disappointment of others. Do you think this is going to set a trend for spells which allow players to skip the hard work of adventuring? One particular dislike of mine is the scry-buff-teleport method of dealing with adventure goals. I think...

Is WotC's web site screwed up for anybody else?

The same thing happened to me for a few hours, and then it started working with no change on my part. Maybe wait a bit.

    I wish they'd just reboot.

Personally, I'm looking forward to running campaigns into and through the Realms' spellplague. It's like a fantasy apocalypse. Cool bananas.

D&D 4E What has you excited about 4e?

Yes, but so did 3E, AD&D, and the merits of Dr Pepper.

I miss Dual Classing and the power of nostalgia

Actually, I've never been bothered by the scarifice PCs make to change classes. I quite like the idea of a character having to survive on what he's learned in his original profession while he picks up the basics of a new one. From a story point of view, even if the 8th level party fighter has...
