    D&D 5E Disintegrate Vs. Druid

My point is that once you marshal all the facts, there's no ambiguity. You roll the damage for the spell, you add it up and apply it, as per the general rule for dealing damage. If there's enough to zero the druid's wildshape, the druid reverts to his own form and suffering the rest of the...

    D&D 5E Disintegrate Vs. Druid

Curious. I hadn't read the entire thread before hopping in. Also, I really like the term "Schrodinger's Druid". Leads me to think that all white-room/theorycrafting conversations are equally "Schrodinger's Game."

    D&D 5E Disintegrate Vs. Druid

That's the only way to run it without making things up, tho. Disintegrate does not - nor does anything else, for that matter - administer its damage one point at a time. It deals its damage all at once, druid wildshape interrupts/reacts to the damage in its own way, and the result is that the...

    D&D 5E Disintegrate Vs. Druid

seebs, Disintegrate isn't interrupting itself to turn the target to ash. It's dealing all of its damage and then the target, if they're left with 0 hit points after the hit, is dusted. Since druid wildshape interrupt procs off the wildshape being dropped to 0, which could happen well before...

    D&D 5E Disintegrate Vs. Druid

Reverting to your own shape after wildshape drops to 0 hit points is not healing. It's an interrupt. You never lost your own hit points, so you're not being "healed" when you switch from wildshape hp back to your own pool.

    D&D 5E Disintegrate Vs. Druid

The phrase "remove their own trigger" is misleading. Reactions and other such effects "interrupt" their triggers. You can cast shield and still get hit, for instance. By this logic, you can get reduced to 0 hit points in wildshape and the moment when you revert to your own hit point total can...

D&D 5E How badly did Sword Coast Legends damage the brand?

...about as much as this thread damaged the OP's brand.

D&D 5E DM's: what do you do with players who miss time?

I nudge them as far in to the background of the narrative as possible and no XP for the missed session, but double XP for their next session. I called it "rested XP". #originalideas

    D&D 5E Disintegrate Vs. Druid

Guys, disintegrate is a damage spell. It makes as much sense to kill a wildshaped druid with disintegrate as it does to kill a fighter who just used second wind or an abjurer for breaking down their ward. Obviously, temporary hit points and wildshape are different things, but conceptually...

I'm glad I held off on buying this. If it's not using the 5E rules, then it's not what was advertised.

    D&D 5E Disintegrate Vs. Druid

Basically this. It doesn't make the druid tougher or disintegrate weaker to just run it by the rules.

D&D 5E Persuade, Intimidate, and Deceive used vs. PCs

The idea that the DM can make a party accept a quest because they rolled well in a skill contest seems to run counter to the primary notion of the game, namely the dialectic between players and the DM. Success in Charisma-related skill checks and contests for NPCs doesn't function as a dominate...
