    Do You Believe in Karma?

Yes, and in much the way described above by others. When you put good into the world, good will come back to you. Be nice to people, they will be nice back. Do a favor for a friend or coworker, they will help you out when you need it. Be positive, and positive things will come back to you...

    Advice for Gamers in Society

The thing that gets to me about social discussions like these is that for some reason gaming gets set apart from other hobbies as if there is something fundamentally different about us as people because of what we spend our time doing. Can we take just a tiny step back and look at the OP's...

I'm sorry, your character idea is too awful.

First of all, that Kobold Paladin is the most awesomnest thing I've heard all day. I WILL find a way to work that concept as an NPC into my game. Yoink! It's important that players are included in the planning of a game, so that everyone's on board with the tone. In the end, though, the DM...

    I voted!

I didn't have to wait at my precinct, but I was the 630th person to vote there. I don't know what the usual numbers are, but it's a small precinct, and I doubt it usually gets that kind of turnout. Local news showed some city polls with lines around the block. Even though neither candidate...

Your Dicebag and You. What makes a perfect Dicebag

My primary dicebag, which holds my most beautiful dice that I play with all the time, is a drug bag. I'm not actually certain of its original intended purpose, but my guess is pencil case. Picture a soft rectangle made of fuzzy green fabric sort of the size and shape of a VHS tape, with a...

    Stupid, blind, and dead deer...

In the game I ran my senior year of college, I had a friend who drove about 45 minutes to get to the game each week. Since it was such a long trek, he would often stay for a few hours after the game to hang out and chat. One night he stayed til almost 5am, and on the way home, hit a deer. I...

Is the economic crisis affecting your gaming purchasing?

Nope. I don't often spend a lot of money on gaming stuff, but my personal income hasn't been effected by the economy yet. What I have noticed is that this year's convention where I sell my artwork and crafts had noticably lower attendance, and a lot of the people that did come did not have a...

Would you want to eat here?

Hey now. the dragon part adds the sentience! Though does not necessarily negate the surliness...

Would you want to eat here?

No way. Not that monkeys aren't awesome, but even if you could train one to bring things to customers correctly, and was kept clean, an animal has no concept of real cleanliness. Not to mention that monkeys are notoriously bad-tempered and could freak out on the guests.

Those Barnes & Noble Membership Cards

Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, you don't get the discount on everything you buy. I think I was told hardback books, new releases, etc. Either way, you have to drop hundreds of dollars a year to make it worth it. I do shop at B&N and like it. I have a borders card, but the borders...

Gamers that didn't survive first contact

In the first game I ever ran, I had my former tae kwon do instructor as an independant study professor. Being a former gamer, suitably nerdy, and acted more like a student than professor most of the time, he seemed like he would be a good fit. He was excited when we made his character, and...

DMs: Do you tell players the DC before they roll?

I'm similar to a lot of folks here, I think. Most skill checks, they're going to know the numbers. Jumps, climbs, balancing and all that jazz. For the most part, someone will have the PHB open and everyone will know how well they have to do. I'll tell them if there's a modifier to the check...

    Gaming Pride / Gaming Shame

It's my number one hobby, so I talk about it whenever it's appropriate to talk about hobbies. I'm not ashamed of my art, my writing, my music, my movies or anything else I like to do for fun, so there's no reason to be ashamed of my gaming. Just like with all those other things, I try not to...

    Conventions?

I know there ARE some gaming cons around me, but I don't know anything about what they're like or where they are. All I know about is my local comic con, which happens in May. I used to go as an attendee, and for the past four years, I've had a table to sell my artwork and gaming randomness...

    Babes of GenCon 2008

Oh, that was totally me. I was rocking in my best nerd T shirts, including the one that promos my webcomic (available through our forum! (<--I'm so subtle!)), and my my best oversized hoodie, my hair carefully swept into the casual elegance of the "slept on it wet and rolled into a bun" style...

OK GenCOn ENWorlders, document your experiences here...

It was by far the funniest and most informative seminar I attended all weekend, and I'm a whore for a good writing seminar. I did have one question that I didn't quite get an answer to, mostly because I didn't word it properly. Is there an addy I could send an e-mail to to rephrase it? I'm...

This was my second year, and I had a GREAT time! Mistwell--I saw your lovely wife breifly on Thursday as she was trying to fight her way into the dealer room. I was going to stop by the booth, but by the time I found it I was on a mission for stuff and didn't want to interrupt her with her...

Gencon CMG Games (Sat and Sun)

I've never played pathfinder, but if that won't be a problem, count me in for Crown of the Kobold King.
