    ORCS or Half-Orcs?

I have an issue with the absolute "no one" here. I see use for races that are irrevocably evil to the core in swords and magic fantasy. That doesn't mean that that should be the norm for villains. Bringing up Lord of the Rings, you have human evil caused by greed, fear and whatnot, and absolute...

    Confessions of a Full-Time Wizard 2: Monogamy

I wonder how many of the target audience gets to see an article buried in the WotC website that you need to log on to see it. Especially when the site is so wonky I myself can't log on my existing account. Really, I'd like to have few words about accessibility with someone over there.

    D&D 4E Druids in 4E

I agree - there isn't much difference. It would be like giving Warlocks powersource called Infernal or Bards witth Music as their powersource, Rogues being Stealth strikers instad of Martial ones and so on and on. It would defeat the purpose of the powersources to give each class it's own.

    ORCS or Half-Orcs?

The thing is nowdays you have two orc archtypes. The newer one is a savage but more or less of noble orc (Morrowind etc.). The older versions is Tolkien's kannibalistic, brutal and hateful demons in mortal flesh. The former makes fine PCs and fill the savage type hole in PC race types, the...

    DRAGON #360 Art Gallery: Dryad

Not perhaps excatly to my tastes, but looks like Wizards have solid art direction going on, which is good thing. A mouth would be nice, though.

Skiis, snow and the enviroment in general

Then again, pretty much everything in the rules is specialized. I'd argue freezing on a glazier, getting diseased in a jungle or picking herbs in an idyllic forest is more generic than, say, the Red Wizard prestige class. ps. Ahnehnois, I stand corrected. As a matter of fact, I think the icicle...

Skiis, snow and the enviroment in general

The question in nutshell: Should the 4th Ed make the enviroment or climate the PCs are operating in more prominent feature in the game than what the 3rd Ed did? The more verbose version: I recall browsing trough the artic themed D&D splat book, and seeing all sorts of cold enemating weapons...

    Exeunt gnomes: bang or whimper?

World of Warcraft managed to make gnomes unique race with clear and fun identity. Surely WotC is can do that too. I won't mind if they outright copy WoW if that's what it takes. :]

What's the rationale behind non-crittable monsters again?

Excatly! Hitting vital body parts sound like Coup de Grace, not criticial strike as presented in D&D rules. D&D crits are more like seeing opening in creature's defence and getting exeptionally solid hit in. Which means any creatire that can be damaged by a weapons should also be crittable...

    Exeunt gnomes: bang or whimper?

Gnomes should kill halflings and take their stuff. What self respecting race tolerates being called a half of something anyway?

    What scares me

Well, the known testers could be pressurized by 3rd parties to tell more. Much harder if they don't know who is and is not a tester. :p

There's Powerful Deviltry at Work Here...

It has been the lawfull/chaotic axis of the aligment system that I have found problematic, not good/evil axis. So removing aligment but making the assumed setting black and white is not contradictory at all.

There's Powerful Deviltry at Work Here...

Speaking of animalistic, why not rename tiefling to changeling, and leave their heritage more vague. Maybe they have fiend blood, or/and fey blood, or/and even celestial blood. I think same mechanics would serve for all heritages. Would be make good paraller to warlock class too. Too late I...
