  1. Guilt Puppy

(Tavern) City of Orussus, The Red Dragon Inn VI

Sturm watches much of the inn clear out, disinterestedly. When they're gone, he raises his glass, commenting less than softly: "Well, 'ere's hopin' not all 'f em make it back too safely, eh?" Turning, he notices Lady Fant perusing the job board and, not being the best student of human reaction...

(Casual D&D III) The Man in Black

The man in black listens carefully, eyelids blinking, seeming to catch the details between lashes: Names, opinions, events... "You are the Birds. I judged from the banner the small one was weaving... I should apologize, but I forget easily that you don't know yourselves by the names I've...

    [OOC] A Game of Trust

Rowf. Without pulling back the curtain any farther than is necessary (I'm not fully dressed, and no one wants to see that), I just wanted to stick my toe in the water and see if anyone has any complaints about the current, ah, verbal encounter. Because I know I'd have some. But before I start...

    Media trashing on DnD again

Man, me too. That totally misrepresents the game: What DM would reward his players for being less efficient? The Satan Scout guidelines clearly state that a player only earns the Assassination Merit Badge if the (good-aligned) overlord is killed cleanly in one strike.

[Vile] Puppy-Kicking PCs at Work, part 2

Lydia and Accalon return to find Alev standing in a clearing, tossing his dagger across at a crude, and by now well-eaten target made on a tree. He does it in a gamish, undisciplined manner: Killing time, in the absence of anything else to kill. Glancing over his shoulder, he acknowledges the...

(Casual D&D III) The Man in Black

It takes a moment for the man to answer -- he seems confused by the phrase itself. But when that moment is over, and recognition comes, he grins slightly. "I've never gone by that name, nor have others used it for me, to my knowledge..." He shrugs. "But, for purposes of our exchange, that's...

    Are you a stingy DM?

Two levels in what, six months? I guess that's stingy, but I've played in games that went at about that rate. I'm quite okay with such a rate, as a player. Personally, I have to make a distinguishment between my IRL games, and the PbP game I'm running, because they're drastically different...

D&D 3E/3.5 Which race "got the shaft" in 3.5

Looking at it race by race: Humans: Not shafted, not one bit. None of the racial mods match the bonus feat. Dwarves: Definitely not shafted... As many have pointed out, they're pretty much the best race mechanically. The only downside in 3E was speed... And that's largely removed in 3.5...

    Star Wars DVD

Thanks for repeating me, Tom. You sure nailed me.
  10. Guilt Puppy

    Puppy-Kicking PCs, OOC, part 2

Alev is updated. And back at camp. He and Gwyn are having a tickling contest, I'm sure.
  11. Guilt Puppy

    Star Wars DVD

Bad month. I was a much better human being before I quit smoking and left CA. Hopefully, if I'm snippy, it at least comes across as well-intentioned on some level... Parading my misdirected frustration about for the amusement of others, as it were. In the best of all possible worlds :)
  12. Guilt Puppy

    Star Wars DVD

You're right! Your intentional refusal to read the obviously intended context of my freaking Star Wars rant (which is to say, opinion) really does make me an idiot! You sure are superior to me. If you wanted to make me feel stupid, you should have just pointed out the fact that I'd posted a...
  13. Guilt Puppy

(Casual D&D III) The Man in Black

The man tilts his head at Oliver, not sure at all what to make of his response. "Interesting," he says, slowly. "But I was referring to..." He turns toward Fendric and Niccolo, not sure what to do with Oliver. "Your travel, to here from Bethel, did it go well? It seems you arrived here a bit...
  14. Guilt Puppy

    Star Wars DVD

It's because back when she did The Professional, she really impressed everyone in that "wow, most kids can't act nearly so well." But then she grew up, and while she still acts well for a twelve-year-old, she's not twelve any more, and it stinks. It's just people remember when she impressed them...

Creepy Player Habits - WARNING: reading may require a Sanity Check!

Reading through here, I haven't actually had any experiences with players as creepy as this... I do have one story that's worth telling, though... Unfortunately, it involves me. Rest assured that I have never stolen any cars, attempted to cast any real spells, or specified the private dimensions...

Playing it up - bad idea?

Doubt your group's civil gaming abilities... I'm sure this is one of those "one side of the story" things that doesn't make them seem quite as bad, but anyone who complains about the way someone is role-playing their character (unless it's in a "you're being disruptive" sense, in which case the...
  17. Guilt Puppy

    Puppy-Kicking PCs, OOC, part 2

Straight leveling is fine by me, as well, and I look forward to getting back in the game. (Alev is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.) I'd like to give some constructive criticism, if I can think of any... I like that you've finally started breaking up the posts a bit more to...
  18. Guilt Puppy

(Casual D&D III) The Man in Black

The door opens slowly, revealing a small windowless room of well-varnished wood, at the center of which stands a well-varnished table, behind which sits a well-travelled man... "Come in," he invites. "Come in." He is dressed in black from throat to glove; a black hat, long-brimmed and pompous...
  19. Guilt Puppy

(Tavern) City of Orussus, The Red Dragon Inn VI

Sturm eyes Nurlan with unveiled contempt as he paces through his song -- perhaps missing the moral to the story, so speak. "Vexin' wag," he remarks to Silvercat, to whom he's seemed remarkably unappreciate. "Who cares 'ow tall ye are anyway? Every'n knows it's how much ye weigh what matters."...
  20. Guilt Puppy

(Adventure) The Haunted Halls of Stonepike

When Sturm finally comes to, he's at first resentful of his loss, cursing and moaning, as in custom in the Downs. When he gets a look at the cup, and the drunken-scrawl signature, though, his mood lifts up a bit, and he grows a bit philosophical. "Well, if'n Fate wants'n turn cruel at me...
