    Mialee: Hot... or Not?

That might just be the funniest thing I've read all month. It's the lisp that sells it. And I shaved off my beard last week, so there. :)

Van Richten's Arsenal has the dirgist, a bard that specializes in the macabre.

2e/3e Netbook of Ravenloft Adventures 'Tales of Damnation' - Guidelines inside

Ack! The Kargatane have nothing to do with the creation of this netbook. It's being organized by fans who use the Kargatane message boards, and the Kargatane may well offer to host the netbook once/if it's done (just as they've hosted other folks' netbooks). But that's as far as the connection...

About the New Denizens of Darkness Review

Aha! Duh. Thanks. Basically, Heroes of Light and Champions of Darkness are player books (full of crunchy goodies and the like) that present flip sides of the same coin: HoL focuses on PCs who are battling external darkness (i.e., white-hats), while CoD focuses on PCs who are battling an inner...

Carnival Ideas - help? Need to string this together

Oh, and here's a web extra I wrote for it back in the day: http://www.kargatane.com/secrets/carnival.shtml

Carnival Ideas - help? Need to string this together

The second edition Carnival sourcebook was fairly rules light, so converting it shouldn't be too beastly. In fact, I believe Carnival is revisited in Champions of Darkness, which comes out this month, handily enough. It may help with the conversions. And Carnival includes nods to Something...

About the New Denizens of Darkness Review

Sorry 'bout this; I couldn't figure out how to post a comment under the review, so I'm sticking this here. In the review, Special Guest Pariah wrote: "I recently found out at the company website (www.Kargatane.com) that there will very likely be no official errata, so any creature I intend to...

    Ravenloft fans I need help

That would have been my first suggestion. Not van Richten himself, no, but the Weathermay-Foxgrove twins have taken up his banner and generally need more help than he did. :)

    Publishers and Reviews

I do, sure, both to get a feel for audience tastes and for the old fashioned reason -- to see what products I want to pick up as a DM. My "I'll buy one of everything to support the OGL/D20L concept" philosophy didn't last very long. :) Depends. If I'm reading a review for someone else's...

Branstorming for ENnies 2003 -- improvements, changes, etc

My only suggested change: Somewhere, at some point, post a complete list of every product entered for consideration.

Worth noting that www.solomonkane.com also sells a limited edition collection of Howard's Kane tales.

We have a dhampir template in Denizens of Darkness. Not OGC, though; sorry.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the D&D Vampire? (Pointless rant, I suppose)

That's not actually the case. Ravenloft and Call of Cthulhu are very different styles of game. Keep in mind that having a shadow set out to wipe out the world is out of character for it; in fact, most of these "undead will wipe out the world" scenarios depend on ignoring the respective...

Am I the only one who doesn't like the D&D Vampire? (Pointless rant, I suppose)

Because they don't exist in a vacuum. If one lives in a world rife with vampires, one also lives in a world with people who know how to destroy vampires. In an RPG, that generally means "adventurers." BTW, I have to say I'm honestly depressed that Ravenloft's barely received a mention in this...

    Weretiger ECL 1 ?!?!?

Personally, my edjumacated guess would be to take the ECL of the base animal and add 2. So that would net the following ECLs, based on Dragon #293: Werebear (brown bear): ECL 12 Wereboar: ECL 9 Wererat (dire rat): ECL 4 Weretiger: ECL 12 Werewolf: ECL 5.

    Making Gunpowder, Need Help Quick!

It really depends on how common you want gunpowder in the setting. In Ravenloft, it's an Alchemy check with a DC of 15.
