    shadow template?

I applied the shadow template to elves in my setting as a substitute for drow. I gave them a +1ECL. The shadow blend is uber for anything with sneak attack, but its still a nice defense for others. Out of the list of abilities I just gave them evasion (I recall evasion not working in anything...

    Question regarding Shades

Thats not a 2E book is it? Obviously LA wouldn't be in there.

    New Druid help?

As a DM I've found the animal companions and/or summoned animals with animal growth becomes overwhelming; especially when dealing with dire animals. Some of them can dish out more damage than the PC tanks. They can take a lot of damage too. The big down fall is a low AC. (Unless the druid equips...

    call lighting

It should be noted that the bolt does 3d10 in stormy outdoor conditions, but its still useful indoors for 3d6. Its not necessarily a lot of damage either way, but it lasts for minutes and a bolt can be called with a standard action each round. Its not nearly as devastating as the 3.0 version...

How do I avoid getting Stoned...

Funny, has anybody read the 3.5 PH text on break enchantment. "Break enchantment can reverse even an instantaneous effect, such as flesh to stone." It also has the text that it only works on spells 5th level and lower if it cannot be dispelled. A bit of a contradiction.

How do I avoid getting Stoned...

I believe break enchantment works for a cure. Death ward definitely doesn't help. Good touch AC might help too. I believe the beholder must hit with any of its rays. In that case something simple like mirror image will go a ways. I'm not aware of any non-flesh humanoids. You'd probably need to...

    Combat Cleric

If the Mulhorandi Patheon is permitted go with Anhur. The falchion is a 2 handed weapon and Anhur has good domains for a melee cleric. Power attacking with a good threat range quickly makes up for the lower damage die on a large weapon. Once you can enchant armor I'd suggest a buckler. Before...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Update to Savage Species/Arms & Equipment Guide

Savage Species I believe SS was written with 3.5 mechanics in mind. Its evident in the skill point & feat progression.

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Monster natural attacks question

Thats not correct although I think it was in 3.0. Check out MM pg312, natural weapons. "This penalty [-5 hit] aplies even when the creature makes a single attack with the secondary weapon as part of the attack action or as an attack of opportunity."

    Improved Natural Weapon Feat

Does the monks attacks qualify for this? The PH says the unarmed strike counts as both manufactured & natural weapons for things that enhance them. Some how I dont this was the designers intent.

    Spell Resistance

We had a debate at the end of our last game and was curious if anybody had any official references and/or answers they can point us too. Essentially, a magical effect is cast on an object and then the effect is brought into the presence of the creature with SR. Does the SR apply so that the...

    Discern Location vs Mind Blank

Discern Location - "Nothing short of the direct intervention of a diety keeps you from learning the exact location of a single individual or object. Discern Location circumvents normal means of protection from scrying or location. " Mind Blank - "This spell protects against all mind-affecting...

    Blighter Wildshape

It sounds like the wildshape of a blighter is pretty lame. Even a huge skeleton gets just an 18strength with d8 for claws compared to the regular druid that can strengths as high as 30 with a lot more damage plus other special abilities of animals.

    Blighter Wildshape

Has anybody used the blighter and understand how its wildshape works? Does the blighter gain the undead immunities? Does a skeletal wolf still have scent? Can a skeletal eagle still fly? Does a skeletal tiger still get the full attack routine or just the 2 claws of the skeleton? I'm not clear...

    Vampiric Touch

I guess that answers two questions then. If you can only get the HP once (which ever is greatest) thats your limit of temporary hp.

    Vampiric Touch

vamp touch Regarding the undead, they are immune to necromantic effects. People sometimes ask what that means and I suppose this would be an example. Vampiric touch does nothing to undead, and because it didnt drain any HP you don't gain any. Vampiric touch isn't channelling negative energy so...

    Hardness

Does hardness apply against elemental and magic attacks as well as physical blows? The only place I can find anything is in the PH and it doesn't specify. It seems that it might. Its already better than damage reduction as nothing can bypass it, but does it act like elemental/magical resistance...

How to handle multiple people in the same square?

I don't think theres any printed rules for this, but it comes up. I might treat it similar grappling. Those in the crowded square don't have room to effectively dodge and lose their dex bonus to those outside of the crowded square. They can only effectively use light weapons while crowded in...
