Warlock bolt- d6/level every d4 rounds?

I have a player running a Warlock PC in my game. I have found the class to be balanced, and useful, but a little boring as the player almost always uses eldritch bolt every round of combat. I am considering raising the eldritch bolt damage to d6/warlock level, but usable only every 1d4 rounds...

"Elf Generalist" ability for a Sorcerer?

I know. Making my elves more viable as PC sorcerers is the reason I'm looking to create this new ability. This thread was a helpful discussion of Elves with LA and the sorcerer class: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=142681

    Gnomes with STR -4

What would be an adequate, appropriate abilty to compensate Gnomes, if their Str penalty was increased to -4? In addition, I use WP/VPs and small characters get WPs = to 3/4 CON Do these two changes bring Gnomes to LA of -1? Perhaps I could give a free level in Gnome paragon (from UA) to bring...

"Elf Generalist" ability for a Sorcerer?

The original substitution level occured at level 1. There was some discussion when the book came out whether "Elf Generalist" is balanced or not. Indeed, the 'drawback' is not much of one since the character gets most of the benefits of being a specialist (extra spells known and extra spell...

"Elf Generalist" ability for a Sorcerer?

Well, only Elfs can gain the substitution level with this ability

"Elf Generalist" ability for a Sorcerer?

In my campaign, favored class for elves is Sorcerer. I would like to create an ability for elven sorcerer equivalent to the "Elf Generalist" ability granted by the substitution level in Races of the Wild. (It gives an elven wizard an additional spell known at every new level, and an additional...

(rpg) Star Frontiers -- why did you like it?

The aliens were probably the best part of the game. All the alien races were both fun and well thought out. Easy, skill based mechanics. The Volturnus modules were great. Lots of combat, but the players need to negotiate with the new aliens and to do that, understand each race's culture. While...

Bard in Full Plate with 0% Spell Failure

Bards can cast spells while wearing armor (from the srd): "A bard can cast bard spells while wearing light armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance." Why couldn't a bard take the Battle Caster feat?

Weapon finesse - big can o' worms here

Alternately, you could house rule that DEX is added to BAB to hit in melee in general. STR still adds to damage. This would obviate concerns about Weapon Finesse being balanced with other feats.

Worst D&D adventure of all time?

Already mentioned, and indeed really bad: Sword of the Dales- boring plot, ugly maps, and only perhaps 6 encounters Curse of the Azure Bonds- nothing for the PCs to do Gargoyle, Child's Play- couldn't even finish reading these they're so boring I8 Ravager of Time- as already mentioned...

Unearthed Arcana- Recharge Magic and the Campaign World

I am intrigued by the Recharge Magic option presented in Unearthed Arcana- it seems like it would allow the players to use their abilities, without having to spend so much game time resource managing. In addition, I've always disliked the idea of the group resting in the middle of the adventure...

How to make LA+2 Elf race capable spellcasters?

I'm following the discussion between Khaalis and Ferrix with interest, since you both obviously know what you are talking about. It seems to me that the net effect of most of the suggestions is to grant the elves the power of 1 level of sorcerer (and maybe a HD or two). Wouldn't this be...

How to make LA+2 Elf race capable spellcasters?

Arkhandus, those are all helpful ideas. This race is based on the Drow as presented in the Monster Manual- which have the same sized Stat mods, SR, and spells/day. Is the Drow considered a weak LA+2 race? Has anyone played a Drow spellcaster? How have you dealt with this issue?

How to make LA+2 Elf race capable spellcasters?

Giving the elves a caster level bonus would not grant access to higher level spells as fast as humans, correct? In any case, should a caster level bonus raise the LA above +2? If so, doesn't this now hose non-spell caster elves?
