In the first "season" of Encounters, the character creation was compatible with LFR rules, so you ended up with a character you could use in RPGA games. The second season will be set in Dark Sun, and I believe all the characters for that season will be pre-gen.

I'm aiming for Sociable or even Close, but as a relatively new player so far the only events I've made it to are Encounters and a weekly LFR event. Both are really fun, and I've enjoyed playing with the people I've met there, but they're still complete strangers.

It's still hacked though- forces you to auto-download malware (bad PDF). OK if you're using a secure browser and know what you're doing, but if your browser is set to auto-open downloads this could hurt you.
