Well, I don't yet have either book (although both are on my wishlist), but my impression is that Rules Compendium has all the "crunch", I mean the actual rules of the game to be used and referenced in the table, while the DM kit has a lot of the DMing advice and tools that came with the previous...

TSR did those, as the "Complete" books... Some sold great like the "Complete Fighter's Handbook" or the "Complete Book of Elves" Some sold poorly like the "Complete Book of Gnomes and Halflings" ...and most of them were filled with munchkiny cheese! As a whole, the idea bombed.

Exactly this. Just like a great novel, an excellent play, or a well-written and directed movie, a well played roleplaying game has the potential to bring catharsis to everyone in the table. That's why it is not "just" a game, it is a great game.

Your answer is in this very website... Check out the War of the Burning Sky series of adventures. They are all set within the same area, which is a peninsula with about 6-8 nations total, all about to plunge into a huge war. Its very well written and I am having a blast playing in it.

Actually, since I have never seen a Swordmage without Intelligent Blademaster, I think it should become a class feature. Then make two feats, one where using a simple weapon as both an implement and a weapon gets a +1/+2/+3 feat bonus, and another one with a bonus to military weapons.
