What sort of product do you want to buy that no one is producing?

Right now, I don't need or really want much for new crunch. I got plenty, thanks. What I would most like to see right now is serious expansion, revision, and evolution of existing game mechanics. WotC has basically spent the last three years carpet-bombing us with new races, base classes...

    Best (and worst) of 2006

Fiendish Codex II next month--Any scoop/rumors/etc.?

Statblock Format Changes Looking over the new monster section, I noticed that WotC continues to tinker with the new statblock format. But in my mind the format has taken a huge step backwards with this latest iteration . . . There is now an "SA" line that appears before SQ, and is just a...

    Got Fiend Factory?

Thanks! Of course, I'm deeply indebted to all the Creature Catalog patrons who have helped out with ideas and suggestions. If you do use the gurgotch, please let me know how it works out -- I haven't playtested these conversions very thoroughly, so any "real-world" data is much appreciated...

    Got Fiend Factory?

Added three new conversions: giant mole, gurgotch, lorelei willow

How do you prefer your WITCH?

That's still my favorite incarnation. I pulled it from the Best of the Dragon Vol I and used it heavily in my BECMI D&D game. If Mearls had updated it for 3.5, I would have bought the Dragon Compendium in a heartbeat.

spells that lost popularity in 3.0/3.5

I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't realize that sleep's casting time had changed in 3.5 to a full-round. That would explain why no one has taken it in any of my games.

Dragon Magazine: Monster Ecologies to be released!

You are most certainly not alone. For that matter, I'm not a big fan of the new monster format having such lengthy ecology and sociology sections -- unless it's in a world-specific monster book or a really exceptional critter. Otherwise, I'd rather just have the mechanics, enough flavor text to...

AD&D Dungeoneer's and Wilderness Survival Guides - are they good buys?

I always wanted to do a mashup of the DSG sample underdark with the one presented in the D series modules -- basically, take the great physical locations detailed in the DSG and add in the superb description and flavor of the D series. I want my underworlds mysterious, ancient, and sprawling...

    Campaigns in the near future?

I hope to finish out a major arc of my retro campaign in January with the PCs attacking the Fane of Lolth from Vault of the Drow. Then one of my key players goes back into the military (!) while another one is set to give birth. I think we'll go on hiatus for at least February and maybe a bit...

    Wealth to $ table

This request easily falls within the "fair use" principle.

    What module are you running?

I've been running a conversion of good old D1-2-3; the PCs should reach the Vault of the Drow tonight. This is the first time I've ever run the D series, though I have wanted to do this for 22+ years. We're having plenty of fun, but I am beginning to wonder if this adventure is actually an...

A Monstrous Tree and Slam Attacks

Looks like these feats appear in Serpent Kingdoms. Will need to give them a look.

A Monstrous Tree and Slam Attacks

Whirlwind Attack as a bonus feat is probably the easiest way. My draft of the Lashing Branches ability pretty much mirrors the feat language. However, the monster also has improved grab and constrict -- would it be unable to use these abilities? Are these technically "bonus or extra attacks...

A Monstrous Tree and Slam Attacks

I'm doing another WD conversion -- this is a lorelei willow (original by Roger Moore) which is a giant evil willow tree. This is a huge 7 HD plant with 15 ft. reach Each round the willow should be able to use a slam attack against all creatures within its threatened area, but no creature...

    Demonic Lore II

My Abyssal contacts assure me he is a prince. More seriously, since that fragment is the ONLY reference, I'm inferring he's a prince based on 1. he's named, which means he's at least a "major" demon*, 2. he has a shrine, 3. he has a minor artifact and associated servant, 4. he will appear...

What was so magical about 1E/OD&D art?

As an aside, I didn't realize that Bill Willingham has gone on to have a long and fairly prestigious career in comics. (I followed his excellent Elementals series back in the day, but have mostly been out of comics for about 15 years.) His Fables series is said to be quite good, and I hope to...

    Demonic Lore II

I didn't see it in this thread, but here's one of my favorite obscure demon-lords: Sha-Hec'urah. The original dungeon geomorph sets (from WAAAAAY back in the day) were broken into three different sets -- low level, caves and caverns, high level dungeons. Each set had a page or so of sample...

Help! Need Maps of a Drow Estate

I've got the PDF version -- unfortunately, the maps aren't indexed, so it's a little bit of a pain to work with. (I thought I had bought a hard copy second hand, but I'll be danged if I can find it.) There's a nifty schematic of a noble complex, for the largest drow house in Mezzoberwhatchit...
