Help! Need Maps of a Drow Estate

Nice . . . I had looked at that ages and ages ago. Many thanks! Looks like there is at least one yoinkable castle plan there.

Help! Need Maps of a Drow Estate

I couldn't tell from the reviews whether or not Dezzavold had fortress maps, but if you're plugging it, I'll take a harder look.

    Artificer's Handbook?

I also use it for pricing items, with good results. (Used it several times just yesterday, in fact.) My current campaign has no house rules, but my next one would certainly pull in a lot of the AH -- especially the method-based item creation feats.

Help! Need Maps of a Drow Estate

Anything from any 2nd edition sources that might be of use? There were many FR books I never got. (And no, I'm not worried about getting any Realms cooties on my nice Greyhawk campaign.)

D&D 1E Where are they Now? - 1E Fiend Folio

That's good to hear -- you all are definitely the right guys for the job. I just wish WotC had made a practice of "canonizing" ToH conversions in their own products*, rather than going off and doing their own. * The precedent I'm thinking of would be the MMII. Kind of like what they did with...

    AD&D1 Treasure Types

Ahhhh, it's all coming back to me now . . . the contradiction between the DMG and the monster books, so on and so forth. I definitely used the "treasure is based on max numbers appearing," and prorated all my treasure accordingly. What a pain in the $!%& that was!

Did you use UA in your 1E games?

I used all of it, at first. The spells were great, but everything else . . . blah. I hated (and continue to hate) the new classes and races. And people think Great Munchkinism was a feat invented for 3e!

    AD&D1 Treasure Types

Weren't the treasure values intended to reflect the maximum number of creatures in lair, and you were supposed to prorate the amounts based on the actual number of creatures appearing? (Or maybe I may have just done this as a super-stingy DM.) So if you had a tribe of 10 hoblobs (normally...

D&D 1E Where are they Now? - 1E Fiend Folio

Maybe I am a huge outlier here, but I would really prefer not to see any more "official" conversions of monsters already covered by the Tome of Horrors -- unless that conversion really spun the monster in a rather new direction. And in that case, what's the point? For my money, ToH has already...

Help! Need Maps of a Drow Estate

So my players have finally made to my conversion of D3, Vault of the Drow. Next session they will probably reach Erelhei-Cinlu, and if things go according to plan, they will begin planning an assault on the Eilserv compound. To this end, I need some maps of a drow estate. Here's the...

    Grim Tales Creature Calculator [Excel]

I get a lot of mileage out of this nifty tool. Has there ever been an update issued? I think I have one of the earliest versions. There's one bug I've seen with Large undead (they are getting Con bonuses to hp); other than that, it's been great.

What was so magical about 1E/OD&D art?

I think the old black and white drawings, much like the scant descriptions in the old modules, have considerable charm because their very unfinished nature leaves so much to the imagination. And I don't think this is a 3e vs. 1e thing, either -- the very technically fine color paintings by...

    Thanks for the plug, man!

What is the best issue of Dungeon in recent memory?

The one that came this month -- with "Return to the Lost City" and the latest Savage Tide installment -- is looking pretty sweet. Really, the last couple years have been almost all good. Back in the day, I bought issues 1 and 2 of Dungeon, picked up a couple more here and there, but was never...

Fiendish Codex II next month--Any scoop/rumors/etc.?

Investiture spells -- freaking brilliant! I have been looking for a D&D mechanic like this ever since I read some o-l-d WD articles on RuneQuest demons.

    Oozes in fantasy...where's the inspiration?

Along with various H.P. Lovecraft-inspired "formless horrors," I think we have bingo. Was the monster Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser encountered a cold spawn? It's been ages since I've read those books.

Is there a d20 description of the disease leprosy floating around anywhere?

    Staff of the Abyss

And it's a really good one, too -- Dan's choice of using righteous might as a substitution for the shapechange ability is elegant and brilliant.

    Staff of the Abyss

This magic item was known as a demon staff in 1e; was updated to 2e in Drow of the Underdark. This item causes fear, can summon a vrock, and transform the wielder into a glabrezu demon. Has it been updated to 3e?
