I think there are 2 competing goals that they must try to break even. Focus and generality. A more generalistic all-in product will attract casual or curious gamers. There you would probably try to fit as much you can, without much details and depth, which will usually end to rely on...

So maybe the solution to all of this would just have been rebrand it to "Japanese Adventures" and go with it?

I think it's something we all agree here. We may have different positions on the effectiveness of the disclaimer things, and other aspects of the issue at large. But can we give that for granted by now. :D

    D&D 5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

Most are nice. I always like when UA gives attention to feats. In my opinion they are an overlooked at feature of 5E character building. I expecially like feats that replicate part of a "racial bundle". With a little work you could separate the "biological" benefits of a standard race...

One curiosity, if I may. What's the difference between "Finn" and "Suomi". AFAIK, Suomi is just the name of Finland in Finnish. P.S. Being a fan of Eläkeläiset I probably know a couple more Finnish words than you do! :D

That's exactly what I wanted to explai a lot of times but never managed to to as good as you did. I want Asian, Black, Hispanic, bi, gay, female, trans designers. Every one of them could carry in games they work in some fresh and new ideas, after all. the more diverse the brainstorming group...

I'll try to explain the best I can, bear with me because english is not my native language. You said: " put another culture and its myths in a blender, and make money off it, while at the same time have their dominant culture treat the other culture badly". I see those aspects of so different...

D&D General 4e Healing was the best D&D healing

Cap is the only one left standing, and even with Mjolnir gets beaten long and around by Thanos. He's on the ground, down to a few HP (but of course, no broken bones or internal hemmorragies or the like). He barely manages to get up and painfully strap the renmants of his shield for a last...

The point where I don't agree is that it SHOULD be a problem. And I don't agree with the line of thought where one thing can be condoned if someone belongs to a specific culture, be it called "dominant" or not, and chastized if he belongs to another. sounds too much "we are all equal but tome...

So you're saying that it didn't care much about truthfulness to culture and tradition (including his own), he just picked up and mixed the elements he liked ad didn't care about what traditionalists would say? Boy, I'd so like that he would design role playing games besides martial arts...

I might well be wrong. I remember reading something time ago that said that many Chinese viewed Bruce Lee as a sort of a "turncoat" for doing martial arts "the American way".

To be honest, I think the majority if not all of Bruce Lee movies count as American made and not Chinese, and in fact they had their share of criticism in the past and present. Regarding anime, well I've been reading manga and anime for decades. I've seen all sorts of mispresentations of...

D&D 5E If not the word "race", what word instead?

I voted species. Biologically relatively correct. Easily understood by everyone. Does not overlap with other game terms like "type".

Jokes on Mohammed are exactly the same as jokes on Jesus, Abraham or any other god/religious figure. I'd personally reverse your last statement cause and effect.

I agree. Some posts (well, pages now) ago I was told it was not so good to associate Aztecs with ritual sacrifices. Yet it's a negative trope that's grounded in real life events. The rationale should work for everyone.

Since Jesus was jew and with all probability dark skinned, and the majority of classical depictions has him blondish and caucasian, well that might constitute the number 1 case of cultural appropriation in history. Jokes aside, my stance is exactly this. All cultures, all people are equal...

In art you don't really need justification. There are many examples in all kind of literature of interesting characters that are the bad guys. If you can't discern yourself what's good or bad in a fictional book without someone telling the problem is on you, IMO.
