TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

I haven't downloaded the 572 pages of docs, but it honestly looks like a hot chaotic mess that LaNasa hopes will so confuse the situation that the injunction won't be granted. As we all know there are others in legal trouble that attempt similar tactics... The forged NDA with the obviously...

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

As others stated, it happens, but it shouldn't. I was a volunteer for Origin Systems back in the late 90's, doing work in Ultima Online as a Counselor and Quest Content creator. The only compensation received was they would comp you the monthly subscription if you did a minimum of 20 hours per...

Plus, all that would do is make it clear the metadata on the document is not a trusted source. Then they'd turn to other means like getting the data from Google itself for when documents were altered, copied, etc. THAT data nobody has access to except Google, and deleting things won't help; it's...

D&D General Dave Arneson’s Pitch for the future of TSR and D&D in ‘97 to Peter Adkison

I agree. Great for a narrative story. Awful for a rule book that is supposed to instruct you on how to play a game. In fact, most of us in the 80's learned D&D from the Basic/Holmes box sets, which were MUCH better written, and just cherry-picked stuff out of the AD&D hardcovers to add to the game.

D&D General Dave Arneson’s Pitch for the future of TSR and D&D in ‘97 to Peter Adkison

Creativity has nothing to do with spelling and grammar. It's about communication. And not spelling the last name of the person you're writing to correctly is just sheer laziness. I have serious issues with Gary's writing as well. For him, it was not the spelling but his overwrought prose style...

D&D General Dave Arneson’s Pitch for the future of TSR and D&D in ‘97 to Peter Adkison

Yeah, Dave's writing is a lot of meandering stream of thought. Very little effort is made to communicate a solid plan or idea.

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

I think we can agree that if this does go to trial there is little doubt on the outcome. At this point it's a question of when LaNasa finally loses his nerve and begs for a settlement. Mind you, WotC may not give him the easy way out at this point. And I have no problem with that. Grifters and...

Right, it still needs to be granted by the judge.

Basically this is "They can't publish ANYTHING that is in trademark dispute until the court case is settled." Which effectively shuts down TSR as a publisher permanently. Not that they ever WERE, really.

Oh yeah, that would explain it! Otherwise I'd never have been able to do it. Hope you feel better soon, man, my brother just got through it himself.

Well I'm surprised @DLIMedia hasn't posted this yet, did I scoop him? But WotC has filed a motion for a preliminary injuction to block any publication by LaNasa's TSR of any product with disputed trademarks and in particular, Star Frontiers: New Genesis for containing racist/offensive material...

D&D General When D&D Co-Creator Dave Arneson Asked WotC For A Job!

"The Game Wizards" is definitely a good book, I'm in the process of reading it and so far, Arneson's attitudes and actions match up perfectly with that cover letter. I always thought a biopic or similar of the founders of RPG's would be kind of fun. The only problem is it probably wouldn't work...

D&D General When D&D Co-Creator Dave Arneson Asked WotC For A Job!

Exactly. Good writing is communication. And Dave communicated a lot in that letter that did him no favors. I remember Tim Kask was given the job of editing Blackmoor, and it was pretty bad. (Link: Interview: Tim Kask (Part I))

D&D General When D&D Co-Creator Dave Arneson Asked WotC For A Job!

Yikes... That is one badly written letter. It's no wonder Adkison never replied. Now I'm anxious about the 2nd letter where he laid out what he would do with the game... Cringe coming!

Yeah, I decided not to try and report anything on YouTube after seeing the video. Saying "I can be a racist against (insert racial type here) in RPG's because they don't play it anyway" is also wrong, and offensive.
