Does a publisher/author's interaction here influence your purchases?

I know what you're saying. People will think you're a chump if you didn't get paid for something, so keep it quiet. On the other hand, if you stay quiet because you're fearful, you're a wimp. Take your pick. In my opinion, anybody who spreads the word about deadbeats is doing a public...

Does a publisher/author's interaction here influence your purchases?

Tensen, you seem like a nice guy, but you don't seem to understand something. When a guy is late paying a freelancer--especially more than a month late--the freelancer is totally justified in thinking the guy is a deadbeat. See, when months and months pass without payment, a freelancer may...

    Thread Capping

Nuh uh. When someone enters a positive thread and smudges it with a quick, foul sentence unrelated to the topic, that is threadcrapping. Tony M

    Dying in a dream

I was a rogue in a D&D-esque dream tasked with disabling two traps built into the floor of a corridor. If I made a mistake, a huge block of stone would drop from the ceiling and kill me. I disabled the first trap. Then I moved a little further down the corridor. I had a bad feeling about the...

    Thread Capping

Threadcrapping often happens when someone wants to discuss something interesting in Dragon Magazine. The threadcrappers jump in to say: * That issue hasn't arrived in my mailbox yet. * I let my subscription lapse when D&D switched to 3E. * I hate the new-fangled art in Dragon. * I design my...

(Update) DM Decision: Player mistake- what would you do

I'm guessing she won't excuse herself. If she's bringing homemade goodies, she's enjoying your game a lot. -2 Wisdom? Ouch. Tony M

Cookies and brownies! And she bakes them? Wow. Tell her you made a mistake. What you meant to say was the evil pentagram filled her pockets with candy. Tony M

(Update) DM Decision: Player mistake- what would you do

I'd probably go with a permanent -1 to Constitution, for the prolonged shock to her system, and give her a Fear of Falling quirk for the rest of her life (not too debilitating; mostly a reminder to look before leaping). Tony M

(Update) DM Decision: Player mistake- what would you do

Why couldn't the Time Lords have yoinked the rogue out of the pit and dropped her into the matrix, too? If you're looking for a way to save her character, that's it. FWIW, what her character did was not that big of a deal. It was not suicidal, nor bad roleplaying, nor stupid. Just wacky...

    The Paladins Code

Marching into hell for a heavenly quest, and reaching at stars and stuff, that's cool. But love pure and chaste from afar? Whoa. Nevermind. That's waaay too too extreme. :) Tony M

    A dilema

The Guy Code is indeed powerful...but it must be properly invoked. One guy must invoke it, and another guy has to accept it for it to be binding. There are two ways of invoking it: Directly: "Um...don't say anything to Shelly, okay?" Indirectly: "Sorry about making-out on your couch, man."...

Player with D&D Game Problem - Advice requested!

I think you did a fine job of running your paladin. The 'mistake' of not asking the perfect question is not a real mistake. You did nothing wrong. Likewise, neither did the DM. I think you should relax a little, and keep running your paladin. Tony M

Cavalier's code of conduct from Unearthed Arcana

But the Christian diety is like 40 times more powerful than the five most powerful D&D gods put together. So it makes sense for a paladin to be 'less humble' in a D&D universe than our real universe. In D&D-land, gods can be killed or tricked by other gods, and make blunders all the time. I...

Cavalier's code of conduct from Unearthed Arcana

Great reply, Elder Basilisk. Thanks! If a DM told me my paladin must be humble, I'd want to know what he meant by humble. To me, humble is personified by Kwai Chang Caine from "Kung Fu." But apparently you people don't mean that humble, or humble in that way. For clarity's sake, Forceuser...

Cavalier's code of conduct from Unearthed Arcana

So a paladin should be obliged to act humble? Let me get this straight... If a farmer said to a paladin, "You did a great job rescueing my daughter! You killed three trolls! You are the best warrior ever!"... You would oblige the paladin to respond with something like, "No, my skills are...
