    Classes and the Thievery Skill

Mengu and I both apparently trolled the Compendium and came up with nearly identical posts. (I though about mentioning the various ways of boosting thievery without being Trained, but decided that was a separate matter altogether.)

    Classes and the Thievery Skill

Artificer Runepriest Warlock Rogue Assassin Monk Hybrid versions thereof. Anyone who takes Skill Training (Thievery). Multiclass Rogue or Poisoner. The Dungeon Experience feat would let you substitute Dungeoneering for Thievery for many checks.

What is the current state of the Battlemind?

It doesn't scale especially well, though. Iron Fist is one of your essential powers at low levels, but less so at higher levels. Of course, later on you'll acquire Lightning Rush and such and can use those instead. I really wish Charisma Battleminds had better Daily options, though. If they...

Class Acts: Seeker and Infinite Damage

Really, the same was true in 3.5. The most powerful, broken stuff was right there in the PHB. Even at the end of the line's run, the three most broken classes were wizard, cleric and druid. Archivist and Artificer also were often cited as overpowered classes, and they also came straight out...

Class Acts: Seeker and Infinite Damage

They'd have to fail an infinite numbers of saves, then, to get that infinite damage. After all, you're talking about two bits of hindering terrain, so they get a save each time they enter one of them while leaving the other. Meaning that typically you get 1-4 instances of damage before they...

    New DM questions

...then why are you running Kobold Hall? It's as dungeon-crawly as can be. It is in fact designed to be the prototypical simple dungeon crawl. That's not a snark answer: Is there some reason you chose this module? Does some part of it appeal to you? Did you think it was more than a simple...

    Daring the Gods

Character Builder is not a rules reference. It doesn't matter what the CB does, if the rules text is clear (as it is in this case). They probably just didn't bother implementing it, because it would add more complexity that most users would never use.

    Daring the Gods

That text box clearly establishes that the game intends for you to be able to worship multiple gods. "There's no reason why your character must champion only a single deity". Which makes sense, since D&D is a polytheistic setting. It's not like worshipping multiple gods will give you huge...

    Previews: MM3, Demonomicon, ToH

Not just that part of the economy of actions, but the other part is even worse: against a single creature, if it turns invisible, then there are five PCs sitting around wondering where it went and unable to do anything cool. Against five creatures, if one turns invisible you just attack...

    Previews: MM3, Demonomicon, ToH

I believe that the Quasit needs to enter the same space as the person it's attacking, which provokes OAs. But since it is Tiny it can enter spaces of Medium or larger enemies. (And it will try to be invisible when it does so, so that it won't provoke.)

    Domain List

I must have messed it up somehow. Let's try this again: link

    Domain List

This post on the Wizards.com boards has all the domains outlined and lists what power they go with. Then it lists each divine class's at-wills and what domain goes with that at-will. It doesn't cover the Channel Divinities for the domains or the gods of Points of Light (already covered above...

    D&D 4E 4E Book advice

DMG2 would be my top pick, as it's a good book for a starting DM or a good review for an experienced one. And little to none of the info therein is available through DDI. MM2 only ranks a little below DMG2, and mostly because you have DDI to give you the monster stats. MM2 monsters are much...

Striking Resurgence, Redoubled Efforts and Defensive Weapon

Our Warden refers to his Second Wind as "Hulking out" because he's basically untouchable for a round when he does so. (I'll probably pick up the Endurance skill power "Swift Recovery" at 6th level to help with this.)

WotC should make an online SRD....

I don't see that it would, and I didn't imply that it would. (I also didn't "hint" at the purpose of the SRD. I stated it in my post. The purpose is to identify what information from the system can be referenced or reprinted by third party publishers.)

WotC should make an online SRD....

There is a 4e System Reference Document. And it is available for free online. ...it's just not what you're looking for. Because what you're looking for is not what the SRD was made to do. The original SRD was for third party publishers to know what they could and could not reprint. Not for...

Hybrid Classes...Anybody seen a good one lately?

They still get the default healing, albeit only once per encounter, not twice. That makes them about half as good a healer as a straight cleric/bard/whatever, which is where it should be. If they pair two leader classes together, you can heal twice per encounter, just like a straight leader...

    Runepriest class

    A) Runepriests aren't replacements for Strength Clerics. They're Divine Warlords, if anything. They offer little healing but lots of constant miscellaneous buffs. Expecting a Runepriest to do what a Cleric does is setting yourself up for disappointment. B) If you still want Turn Undead as a...

    Roundabout Charge

That's not how 4e works, though. It doesn't say "You have to follow the normal rules for charging", because that's what the use of the word "charge" in the sentence does. 4e only tells you when something works differently from normal. So if they didn't want Swift Charge to work like a...

    Runepriest in Action?

I'd think that you could use that computer to provide some support somehow. Have the Runepriest player sit by the computer, and have a text chat window open as well as any voice/video chat. Runepriest types in all the bonuses he grants to people, displayed such that all participants on both...
