    D&D 5E Thief's Reflexes: When Is Initiative Minus 10?

Yeah, as others have said, a general summary: initiative 0 does not by definition indicate the end of a round. The round is over when all combatants have taken (or delayed, or whatever) all their turns.

    D&D 5E Help! What should I play?

The fighter in my party is awesome. First of all, the Eldritch Knight exists for all your gish-building needs. The battlemaster fighter has lots of tactical flexibility. Both are effective and fun at the table. A Paladin is a good option - they have lots of flavor. Just think about what a...

D&D 5E Most useful DM tools at the table? Please share

There is a list of the rules-as-written circumstances in which one gets advantage or disadvantage around the interwebz somewhere. (Here's one for just the things that appear in the basic rules: http://community.wizards.com/forum/rules-questions/threads/4118171 ) Beyond that, it's up to you...

    Unearthed Arcana UNEARTHED ARCANA Index

Thanks for the tip - I think the issue was that I was looking at it from the link on the home page, which presents this post in a different way, and does not (appear to?) automatically provide the option to subscribe. Anyway thanks.

    Unearthed Arcana UNEARTHED ARCANA Index

Assuming this thread is going to be updated as new UA articles come out, is there some way to subscribe to the thread the way one can subscribe to forum threads? Sorry this is probably super easy but I'm just not seeing it...

D&D 5E Fighting Truly Massive Creatures...

I'd look to the awesome game Shadow of Colossus (and, I guess, Dragon's Dogma, though I haven't played it) as a guide: the fighter and rogue need to identify it's Inevitable One Weak Point (tm), get there (climbing on it's body, etc), then hitting that spot with all they've got (I'd let it...

SWORD COAST LEGENDS "Dungeon Crawl Mode" Preview

They say on their website that they'll have an adventure creator. We'll see how it works, though, and if you get the level of scripting control (or equivalent) in SCL...

D&D 5E House Rule: Accuracy-Based Critical Hit Damage

Here's what I thought and was hoping this was going to be: 1) if you hit by 10 or more, you score a critical hit. aaaaaaand... done. This way, there's some reward for people who bump accuracy, but it's not too easy to get that it'll happen all the time. Unfortunately, it means that you can't...

D&D 5E Source of maps in back of 5e DMG?

Among the many cool things in the new DMG, one of them is the set of cool maps towards the end of the book. Does anyone know where they come from? Were they published in previous adventures from older editions? I'm particularly interested in the Bhaal-themed map on p312 if anyone knows. Thanks!

    D&D 5E 5th Edition -- Caster Rule, Martials Drool?

My experience... I recently played a one-shot at 5th level. We had a spell-casting-focused druid (who had lightning bolt), a fighter, my character (a fighter/rogue), and a cleric. I realize I'm missing a big one with there being no arcane caster there, but the caster/martial difference was...

    Recommend me an adventure

I started a thread on the Wizards community site to get some good ideas for adventures, which includes my list of favorite Dungeon adventures. 4e Adventures: Greatest Hits! Also check out the Feywild adventure that was a couple seasons back for Encounters - it's very well-designed. On a...

Suggest Your "Rule of Three" Questions for Next Week (4/17)

    1) The Three Pillars include what has variously been called Social/Roleplay/Interaction. What does WotC mean by this, and what are you exploring mechanically or flavor-wise to enhance this Pillar in the core D&DNext game? 2) What's the timeline on the open play test (i.e. if you had to guess...

    Orcs of Stongfang Pass

The HS2 refers to the series it was in (HS) and its number in the series (2). The first adventure in the series HS1 the Slaying Stone, was quite good. The two adventures are VERY loosely tied together, but there's absolutely no need to play Slaying Stone before you can get full enjoyment from...

D&D 4E Help me eliminate scaling from 4e!

nine - I love the Simply4e idea. Would be a lot easier to run newcomers through with this mod. One question - it says in the document (p3 of the iPad version) that there's a table for class hit points, etc, but I don't see it. Will it be in a future release? Thanks - and again good work.

Sandboxing in Sharn - what do I need to prepare?

Very yes, especially to Klaus' suggestions! One thing to think about that might make things a little more fluid is to pick up the indie rpg Technoir, replace tech with magic (which is sort of how Eberron works anyway), build a Sharn transmission, and run the game as a plot web in Technoir's...
