D&D 5E Why the claim of combat and class balance between the classes is mainly a forum issue. (In my opinion)

I'm not sure I follow. Are you asserting that the behavior of being distracted based on your own experiences or your imagined experiences of others is a universal, and being universal, a reason why 4e combat lasts longer than perhaps different editions? I'm honestly not sure this isn't a giant...

Pathfinder 1E Firearms Resolve on Touch AC (The Calculation)

brvheart is incorrect, a crossbow ranged attack is not a ranged touch attack - it is simply a ranged attack. To answer your question, you would make a normal attack roll (Dex + BAB + feats that apply + other misc modifiers (like if it's masterwork)) vs. the target's touch AC.

Top Ten D&D Settings of ALL TIME!

Great list, fun memories. I wouldn't have been surprised if any of the settings listed here had been #1.

How will the Doom Kickstarter fraud scandal affect future Kickstarters?

I think there's a lot of issues going on with this one Kickstarter that could lead to a change in how some people fund projects but I doubt it'll have a big impact on Kickstarter itself or on other projects, because it takes a lot to overcome collective inertia. In this Kickstarter, the project...

Pathfinder 1E Post here if you're a PATHFINDER RPG fan!

Pathfinder DM here, although we take a look at D&DN with every packet and frankly, no idea if we'll stay with Pathfinder or go to D&DN - it's all about which one both gives us the best gaming experience with the least time-consuming adventure prep. E8 Pathfinder with Hero Lab and without AoO is...

    Fudging is not your friend

So out of curiosity, when does Fudging get the same treatment as Edition Warring? "Oh no, ENWorld, don't open that door! The Fudging monster is gonna get ya!"

Pathfinder 1E Paizo Blog Regurgitation a tad excessive?

Just wondering, but it looks like the fact that a new thread is created every time there's a new Paizo Blog entry is pretty well spamming the Pathfinder board thanks to Gen Con related blogs... So I guess I just wonder if it's as off-putting to anyone else as it is to me.

Did the ultimate equipment pdf get pushed back?

"Due to shipping delays, the retail release date for all of our August products is now August 23; the PDF onsale date is the same."

    Nauseated flanking

No, I was going to point out that unlike simply being out of attacks for a round, nauseated is a Condition that prevents melee attacks and thus threatened and yadda yadda yadda. Thus, it's a red herring to bring up AoOs in the discussion. A character out of attacks for a round is not otherwise...

    Nauseated flanking

Because the character doesn't threaten the square?

    Nauseated flanking

Thanks for the explanation Stream - I thought that was the case and wanted to be sure before burning myself on my own strawman. In any event, can a character take an AoO into a square which they cannot melee attack?

I just chewed out my players

That is precisely why I'd never play with anyone who made or attempted to enforce such rules. It works both ways. Having said that, I echo the sentiment that if it works for you and your group, it's all about having fun. For the OP looking for advice, I'm not sure how feasible it is given...

I just chewed out my players

When I'm going to DM, I never think of it as the "enrious show" - I'm not looking to balance a ledger book to make the players "earn" the time and effort I put in to preparation. But then, I've always wanted to play with friends. The notion of friends who are all equal except some who are...

    What is an elegant system?

For me, elegant is the ICONS system. It allows me to play a game without the rules getting in the way, while still providing a credible depiction of the genre.

    Nauseated flanking

Interesting point, Stream. I found a post of yours and wanted to get some clarification from you regarding your position: Source: paizo.com - Rules Questions: Is an AOO an action. I note for those that don't follow the link that Stream was responding to a question of what kind of Action is...

I just chewed out my players

Pay me cash or give me a diploma to allow me to earn more money and I'll consent to be held to the same attendance rules. If not, and it's a leisure activity meant to be enjoyable for all, then I'll make a genuine effort to attend but if I can't, play without me. And yes, I'll call to let you...

    Nauseated flanking

This. To Flank, you have to Threaten. To Threaten, you have to be capable of making an attack. Nauseated prevents you from attacking. Therefore you can't Threaten. Therefore you can't Flank. The reason they didn't spell it out is because the rules build upon themself and they didn't want...

    Assassins: Is Neutral okay?

Personally, I find that Paladin = LG to be so embedded into the D&D experience (and to be fair, one that I share) that for my own campaign world I've utilized Green Ronin's Book of the Righteous concept of Holy Warrior for anything not supposed to be a LG paragon of Virtue and the Holy Church...
