Looking for advice/ideas on running Kingmaker

Not sure I quite understand your first paragraph, but I'm all in favor of your second. IMO/IME, the more political intrigue/fun/screwingthepartyover you can do with other non-human entities around the party. I mean, my party made friends with kobolds and one of them, dubbed "MickMack" (nee...

Sexism and presumed sexism in RPGs

What's old is new. http://www.enworld.org/forum/press-releases-announcements-temporarily-closed/7906-q-rogue-fighter-nudity.html Also, when did doing nothing but making strawman attacks constitute a valid side to a debate? I think personally think there's one person in this thread who's...

    At-Will Magic and Arrows

This. The only exceptions that I recall were a World's Largest Dungeon campaign and a Midnight campaign. Even in Ravenloft, not so much.

Too slow. It's very easy to miss things; I sort of think random encounters were meant to bridge the gap more than I realized.

    Cantrips as encounter powers?

I think you're right. I was referring to Pathfinder, since it has at-will cantrips.

    Cantrips as encounter powers?

Except that they have unlimited amunition, are weightless, don't require an action to swap, don't require an action to reload, can't be disarmed or sundered, can be used one handed and for some groups provide more immersion than a wizard with a bandolier. Those are not insignificant advantages.

    Cantrips as encounter powers?

Actually they don't benefit from those feats, "You get a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls with ranged weapons at ranges of up to 30 feet," " When making a full-attack action with a ranged weapon, you can fire one additional time this round. All of your attack rolls take a –2 penalty when...

How to deal with a problem player

Ever have that thought that you wish you could go back in time and tell your younger self some bit of advice so they'd make your life easier? Jester just did that for you.

    Cantrips as encounter powers?

Cantrip: 1d3 per round. Bow/Arrow: 1d6 per round. Without counting any bonuses from things like PBS, RS, Mighty, or Deadly Aim. My experience differs from you; At-will low-damage spellcasting did not make other ranged characters superfluous and it had a certain aesthetic appeal by virtue of...

    Cantrips as encounter powers?

    No argument from me.

No, let the carnival come to the PC's town. It makes things more...festive. Besides, we found that later on, leveling was jacked anyway.

    Cantrips as encounter powers?

We've yet to see any problems with unlimited attack cantrips in Pathfinder.

Building a character for kingmaker game.

Not a cavalier. People have the impression that they're only good mounted but truth is, they're still very effective dismounted. And in Kingmaker, it's rare for you to be forcibly dismounted by circumstance.

A module that has often been recommended as a "break" during the game (that provides foreshadowing) is http://paizo.com/products/btpy80op?GameMastery-Module-E1-Carnival-of-Tears Let's see, here's what I would have done differently, were I to run it again. 1) Ditch the kingdom building by the...

GM Confessional: I fudged like a Banshee (just not on the dice rolls)

"`Fudging' isn't a dirty word, Blackadder. `Crevice' is a dirty word, but `Fudging' isn't." Everyone at the table having fun is the goal, however it's accomplished.
