D&D 5E [GUIDE] A Blast From the Past: Wizarding 101

Oh I agree with you about resources typically being tight beyond the "freebie" spells at each level. But my approach here was really more about which spells, at least to me, held up against what you would expect per their level, which excel and which are terrible. With that in mind, it's...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] A Blast From the Past: Wizarding 101

Flaming Sphere does have it's fans for the reason you mention...ultimately opinions vary which is what makes this stuff interesting of course. For me between the bad damage, the concentration and that most fights don't really last long enough to get a lot out of this, it's tended to underwhelm...

D&D 5E [GUIDE] A Blast From the Past: Wizarding 101

I really regret using this language in the guide, haha, but you are correct of course. I actually started thinking about it after I referred to it. I have a friend who is playing a sorc and was twinning Scorching Ray, so this is something we goofed on. Thanx!

Ah, you are quite correct. I forgot the nuance about single target. Language duly corrected. There are bound to be errors, so I do appreciate the feedback!

D&D 5E [GUIDE] A Blast From the Past: Wizarding 101

So, as a note the formatting didn't come out quite as I would have liked...I'll be playing with it a bit to try to make it more user friendly but hopefully this is still useful in the meantime!

    D&D 3E/3.5 Thoughts of a 3E/4E powergamer on starting to play 5E

Oh I agree with this, no doubt. Low level play for spell-casters is still rough, with maybe the exception of the warlock. The cantrips help, but yeah hard to keep up with melee types. Things get better actually at mid-level I think with decent slots for spells at levels 3, 4 and 5...I think...

    D&D 3E/3.5 Thoughts of a 3E/4E powergamer on starting to play 5E

Coming late into the game here but I agree with a lot of the OP. Also agree with a lot of posts that 5e does a lot to prevent overpowered optimized characters relative to other editions where it could be come a problem. I do agree with the OP too that spellcasters were nerfed maybe a bit too...

Wizard Howdy: Sorry for the late reply, got distracted and hadn't checked back. Put me down for the wizard. I've already been tinkering with building one and I'd love to give it a whirl. So...human female wizard (possibly cleric multiclass). Thanx, Chris

sign me on! Hi: I'm very interested. My group will be on a summer hiatus so a single module game would be an excellent chance for me to try out 4E. I've been playing for 25 years about, since 1E, so plenty of experience. I could conceivably recruit a couple other players too if there are...
