Can we please stop calling D&D Insider an MMORPG

You can play MMORPG games offline and then get bonus content and additional gaming opportunities by paying an extra fee? Wow, I missed that when I played World or Warcraft.

Is this the "WotC" Spell Compendium?

285 pages must be wrong, because physics requires sheets to be double-sided, the page count on books is an even number. And if I remember my bookbinding, books are still generally bound in folded and stitched "signatures" so that page counts are some multiple of 4. 288 pages gives a nice set...

True 20 - Is it really Simpler?

I guess I'm a bit confused by this -- I find the standard d20 classes much more cliche than the True20 classes because the classes have very little definition. No cross-class skills, almost all class abilities eliminated. All that really is different from class to class aside from a single...

True 20 - Is it really Simpler?

IME, that's hardly enough time for a single decent combat in Champions! ;)

    How is Grim Tales grim?

I didn't really take Grim Tales to mean the game was grim and gritty, but more that it was playing on the sorts of titles that old pulp magazines had. And I figured that since the cover and logo looked like a pulp magazine, and the "High Adventure, Low Magic" tagline was pretty direct and...

    Pronouns

The number agreement issue is a recent grammatical construction. They has been used as a way to deal with both number ambiguity and gender ambiguity (with great controversy) for a long time. Of course, a key problem is that many of our grammar rules are imposed latin rules rather than outgrowths...

    Pronouns

Except for the fact that it was for many decades established as standard English, and considered correct until grammars of the last century focused on its use. The big change is that while once used for vague references toward number ("nobody in their right mind would use a singular 'they'")...

Makes an old man feel good

Are you kidding? I turn 38 this March, am about to mark the one year anniversary of my divorce, and I feel younger and more alive than I have in years!

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

Congrats to you, too! I haven't been able to appreciate my victory much since I have been bedridden with strep throat, but I now have a buttload (quite literally) of penicillin in me, and I feelin' feisty.

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

If it makes you feel better, 6000 is probably more than I wrote all of last November. But I started writing again afterward. 50K isn't really the thing you should get out of NaNoWriMo-- getting back into the habit of writing is.

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

Agreed. My NaNo novel is currently filled with literary problems-- plot holes, narrative problems, sketchy descriptions, stilted dialogue-- but I will fix them in my next dozen pass-throughs on the novel. My goal now is to lay out the general book. Fleshing out and fixing will come later.

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

Hey, if you write as fast as yangnome, you still have plenty of time to finish this month!

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

I feel like I should be jealous, but I'm not. Congratulations! Me, I'm just feeling peachy about the fact that I should pass the halfway point today.

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

Darn you, yangnome! I'm at only 15840-- I still have a good 34,160 words to go! I'm 2160 words behind where I had hoped to be today.... :( Congratulations on the avalanche o' words!

    NaNoWriMo 2005 - Who's in?

Good to see some others are doing this, too. This is my second year, though last year was a fiasco. I have written over 12,700 words already, and hope to get another 3000-5000 done this weekend. I find that I get a lot done if I just set aside time when I can -- even 15 - 30 minutes -- during...

Spring Attack allows Movement+Attack as single Attack action?

The statement should be the same, allowing movement before and after, not move actions. Doug

    Dinosaur stats?

Between the referral to MMII and this it helps some. With MMII to give me some more basics than velociraptors (large and small), a large carnosaur, and a ceratopsian as examples, I think I can build what I want. Thanks, everyone!

    Dinosaur stats?

    Looking for more, not stronger.

    Dinosaur stats?

MMII, eh? Because the MM doesn't really stat out much, which is the proble. I would love generic ceratopsians, pterosaurs, carnosaurs, etc. But I get nothin', especially compared to the old days of the MM 1st edition.

    Dinosaur stats?

I want dinosaurs in a setting I am working on. Is there a good supplement that has plenty o' dinos to supplement the measley handful in the MM? Thanks! Doug
