Help! A player wants to play "Captain America"

I'd tell him to go away and create his concept in 2e, then convert it into 4e with him. That way, he has to do the hard work of fitting his 4-colour superhero concept into a game about sword and sorcery archetypes.

When will WOTC clarify the Stealth rules?

But that is not how the Virtual Table is going to work at all - it is not going to work out the maths, they've stated that many times.

When will WOTC clarify the Stealth rules?

You're right about hearing being a vital part, but the rules cover it as well, when they talk about avoiding notice. There is no confusion on this point at all.

When will WOTC clarify the Stealth rules?

Of course not, what DM would allow that? The goblin is Small, the Troll is Large for heavens sake. Why do you need a ruling to state the obvious?

What might 'hidden from view' mean?

Oh boy, what are you lot like? How would you have survived when D&D was an A5 booklet with 40 or so pages? Hidden and Invisible are both well defined terms, both in real life and the game. They are not the same, but some of the game effects are identical (but not all of them).

What the heck does Hidden mean!!

It doesn't matter one jot; what matters to me is what happens at my table. Anyway, I cannot see any diametrically opposed opinions being expressed anyway. Why so aggressive?

What the heck does Hidden mean!!

I have limited experience with 4e but 30 years DMing, so my answers above are based on that, and upon a dash of common sense. I know that PCs and monsters to not make passive checks, as that is what "passive" means. The score is a DC that someone using an active skill has to beat in order not to...

What the heck does Hidden mean!!

Enemies do not get the "make Passive checks" at all. Their passive Perception score is the DC for the rogue's Stealth check if the enemy is not actively looking out for him. Enemies who know the rogue is out there somewhere and are actively searching for him would make an active Perception...

What the heck does Hidden mean!!

Absolutely agree with you. There is some common ground, like being -5 to hit with area attacks (Total Concealment), but as you pointed out, you can stand in "plain sight" if you're invisible, but you have to be concealed behind something or skulking in shadows etc if you are hiding.

What the heck does Hidden mean!!

Same as Hide in Shadows in 1st edition. Hidden = Total Concealment, either behind a physical object, or due to shadows or similar. What is the issue?

What the heck does Hidden mean!!

This is how I run it at the moment: Hide in Shadows = Stealth roll; Move Silently = Stealth -5 roll (penalty for moving). So the party are approaching graveyard in which can be seen strange lights. They decide to move stealthily up to a point where they can see what is going on, using the...

How do you heal outside a fight?

I think that if an unconcious chracter is stabilized, they recover to 1hp after a short rest. Can't remember the page ref., but this came up in my game last week and that was what I remember reading...

    Math of Blade Cascade

20 is not always a hit, it is just a critical if you do hit.
