D&D 3E/3.5 Fixing the newly broken rogue class (thanks to Andy and 3.5)

I've seen ACs much higher then 45 in 3.0. In Living Greyhawk I've seen somebody get up to the 60s even. This is at lvl 9, and with beads of karma in effect for cleric spells. The character is a wizard 1/ranger 1/ rogue 6/ devoted defender 1 Breakdown.... Mithril Breastplate with magic...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] lamest terminology change?

I miss the classic spell names like improved invisibility and teleport without error but alot of the other spell name changes I can understand. Changing invisibility to undead/animals to hide from undead/animals makes it clear it's a very different effect then invisibility is. And it makes more...

D&D 3E/3.5 Fixing the newly broken rogue class (thanks to Andy and 3.5)

eh, I don't think anyone who has every seen the massive amount of sneak attack damage a rogue with multiple attacks can dish out will consider them weak. The key is to think of them as a fighter with (sometimes) low defence, very high damage, and some special abilities which could be essential...

    D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Half-orcs and weapon familiarity

I always had some extent to the logic behind weapon familiarity just because humans have plenty of exotic weapons they invented to, and they don't get familiarity in them as well. To me it was just that the weapon was hard to learn, not strange to your culture. Even so I have no problems with...

    Monster Manual 3.5. Art Gallery

While I do like the new picture I do object to the fact that it does not in any way match the description. Hopefuly in 3.5 they will at least change the description to match the picture.

    The biggest change in 3.5 . . .

I think it's the dreaded blink door that phases in and out to keep you from opening it. Sometimes it even disguises itself as a dog.

    roges and the alarm spell

The problem is that alarm covers an entire area, it doesn't have a single trigger point. It's really no more of a trap then other long lasting area spells like desecrate, hallow, anti-magic shell, etc.

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Spells (New & Changes)

It's not about named bonuses/penalties not stacking, it's about two spells of the same type not stacking. They overlap with each other, but only the greatest penalty actualy applies. This is clearly laid out in the PHB. It's kind of like trying to cast multiple resist elements on somebody for...

    D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Monks and Shields

"If animated shields carry with them all the associated penalties of normal shields, would you apply the arcane spell failure to an arcane caster with one?" Yes because all penalties apply by the letter of the rules. If the mere act of holding the shield interferes with your magic, I don't see...

    D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Monks and Shields

By the letter of the rules you certainly still get all the shield penalties even for an animated shield. If your using a shield you get the penalties. You could certainly argue that the spirit of the rules is another matter entirely. Personaly though I would not rule that because having a shield...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Tumble

I never had a problem with static DCs. The way I see it is either you let your guard down or your don't. If you aren't performing an action that draws an AoO, your enemy doesn't get one no matter how skilled he is. I could see how trying to tumble through somebodies square might be alot harder...

Do You Give XPs Twice for a Creature That's Been Raised?

I might make one exception to this.... If the PCs fight the minions, then they get raised and have to fight them again the same day, and then in that same day they also have to fight the clerics who now have substantialy less spells from raising and healing their minions, then they should only...

D&D 3E/3.5 So, what's for the finesse character in 3.5?

Don't forget power attack requires a strength of 13+. So it was never a great choice for finese characters in the first place. If your strength is that high, you probably don't need to finese (although with the new finese rules it is more attractive).

    Yet more 3.5 questions (sorry!)

"You can upgrade those weapons now if you wish, although you may have to make a judgement call as to their current market value in pluses. For example, the holy avenger has a market value of 120,315 gold pieces. That is close to +8 on the weapons chart. So you could add Keen and Ghost Touch to...

    D&D 3E/3.5 Forgotten Realms & Rules v3.5

I imagine they will have to change spellcasting prodigy at least, since by the new rules it's essentialy spell focus (everything), with extra bonuses thrown in.

    Ways to counter Color Spray/Kneeling

Closing your eyes would work, but just turning away would not since it covers an entire area. Needless to say though, closing your eyes in the middle of battle has it's own world of problems.

    6-headed Cryo Hydra of DOOOOM!

"not really, after the party's first encounter with a cryo/pyro hydra, they should learn to spread out and avoid certain areas unless they have resistance spells/items (you generally don't just turn the corner and BAM there he is) and for the amount of damage they can dish out (once every four...

    6-headed Cryo Hydra of DOOOOM!

The pyro and cryo hydras are both pretty under CR'd for their level. If they win initiatvie they can easily kill somebody, if not the entire party. That's one thing I hope to see scaled down, or to have it's CR raised.

    Paladins in 3.5, why?

"niteshade6, the reason that the "because it has always been like that" argument is a bad one is because one should look at ideas with a fresh mind. It is kind of like the ranger two weapon fighting thing. There is no reason for a ranger to have two weapon fighting, nothing in a wilderness...

    Paladins in 3.5, why?

It's definetely true that if we completely ignore everything that has ever happened in the past, and all concept of D&D flavor, then yes it would make sense to move paladin into a prestige class. Although replacing it would probably be unnecesary, clerics work perfectly well as holy warriors...
