Time for WotC to start officially supporting older editions?

This is true, of course, but also something of a catch 22 - they create their own material because there isn't anything to buy! At least nothing official. I think using the DDI to sdupport the different editions is an excellent idea, but, in order to justify the cost of subscription, users of...

Time for WotC to start officially supporting older editions?

You make a lot of good points, but I wasn't thinking reprints. I agree that this would not be a good thing. The idea of the reprinting the core rule set is more interesting, but I guess still not what I was thinking. This could easily be handled through PDFs. I was thinking of just entirely...

Time for WotC to start officially supporting older editions?

But why not? What are your objections to it?

Time for WotC to start officially supporting older editions?

Well, with the OGL and OSRIC, 3pp can already do this (though I'm not sure what is going to happen to 4ed), but I guess what I was arguing was that the point of releasing new material would be for WotC to generate constant income from older editions.

Time for WotC to start officially supporting older editions?

But with so many players now playing different editions, I wonder how true this argument remains? Perhaps the player bases are significant enough to justify an official product or two for each edition each year? My thoughts exactly. this would be the perfect place to start.

Time for WotC to start officially supporting older editions?

So many new editions these days, I'm not surprised the d&d market has fragmented. It's not like even 3ed feels old yet, but we're already moving onto number 5. WotC obviously need to operate a company that makes money, but I'm not sure that simply releasing a new ruleset every 5 years will...

    Animal Companion abuse (?)

I don't think it's worth falling out over an animal companion. I agree that companion's get abused - I once had a player who used his to suck up Attack of Opportunities before he went into combat. Since it's something that obviously bothers you, I'm sure there are better ways of dealing with...

1E at Heart 3rd Edition Mind Set

Not much I can say about this as I completely disagree with the premise. It may be a noble idea, but the reality (in my experience at any rate) is that your low wisdom/ low intelligent fighter ends up debating like a post-grad and your 22 Int Wizard like a complete idiot. It's why skills were...

I guess I don't understand "Operation Power Level Gary" - why am *I* getting XP?

What I don't understand is why the powers that be don't just give EGG a bunch of xp to put him to the top of the pile, give him a custom title and be done with it. There's clearly a desrie here to put the co-creator of D&D at the top of the xp list, so why not just do it and be done with what...

D&D 3E/3.5 Vote for your favorite core Class!!! (3.5)

I voted fighter, but it was a close run thing with the wizard. I've played those two classes more than any other. But in the end, it had to be fighter as I just love being in the thick of it and when I look back at my memorable gaming moments (as a player) they're nearly all with the fighter.

Are Nick Logue's Promises of Refunds Empty?

Yep, me too. I've waited a long time for RC and am prepared to continue to wait. Call me naive, but my gut just tells me that this is going to come out at some point and that it'll be excellent when it does. If not, then oh well, my bad. Glad to have my refund for Ebon Shroud, however.

Are Nick Logue's Promises of Refunds Empty?

I'd just like to add that: a) I have received a response to my email from Nic. b) I have received a refund for Ebon Shroud. c) Nic has said that it is still his intention to release Razor Coast.

City State of the Invincible Overlord - worth it?

One of my regrets was not picking up the huge vinyl map when it was available. I picked up pretty much everything else - but not the map. I wish I had now! The tiles are excellent. I must admit that I've as yet still not run RAR, but if I ever do the tiles will be invaluable.

City State of the Invincible Overlord - worth it?

Personally I prefer the Ptolus map, though the City State map is damn fine too. The style is more a throw back to 1ed city maps, whereas Ptolus is more contempory IMO.

If you have played 3.5e regularly within the past 5 years, what are you playing now?

Still playing 3.5 D&D and still really enjoying it. We're currently playing Paizo's Curse of the Crimson Throne and having a very enjoyable time. Hell, I'm still picking up the occasional 3ed book or magazine here and there, even though my shelves are creaking! Good luck whatever you choose...
