D&D General RPG Theory and D&D...and that WotC Survey

Wouldn't the essence of a thing be the same for everyone, even if the specific permutations of their lived experience of it are different?

Spelljammer Legends of the Multiverse, tonight! See Spelljammer in action.

...touché. But hey, I'm not the Ravenloft police - people make it out all the time! I've never even heard of this "Kargatane" you keep asking about. Lemmie just make a quick and totally unrelated phone call, nbd... (/s, to be clear.)

D&D Movie/TV First Footage of D&D Honor Among Thieves: Dungeons, Dragons, Teamwork, With Superhero Vibe

Huh! I believe I only read the Prism Pentad series, not Lynn Abbey's ones - do they really stand up? I'd be super curious to check them out if they do.

D&D Movie/TV First Footage of D&D Honor Among Thieves: Dungeons, Dragons, Teamwork, With Superhero Vibe

Eh? In complete fairness, the kid version of me ate up the Dragonlance and Dark Sun novels, and thought they were awesome - I was, I think, very clearly the target audience for them in the 90s. Were they as good as Tolkien, Leiber, Le Guin or Howard? No, but I read all of them and enjoyed them...

Spelljammer D&D Direct Live Report: 9am PDT (5pm BST) SPELLJAMMER CONFIRMED! DRAGONLANCE!

Don’t forget to account for at least two pages of trinket tables, that every WotC product seems to require ;)

Spelljammer The Forgotten Realms eats Spelljammer before it even finishes digesting Radiant Citadel!

Have they? They definitely were calling it so in 2020; I honestly don’t recall prior to that. Then again, pre-pandemic, I had a lot less time to ramble on about RPGs on the internet.

Spelljammer Beadle & Grimms’ Spelljammer Platinum Edition

This was also my experience of the B&G version of Curse of Strahd - I have to imagine it’s part of their contract with WotC. In example: CoS (in)famously only contains isometric maps of the castle. The B&G version includes extremely helpful top-down maps, but rather than include them in the...

    D&D 5E Further Future D&D Product Speculation

I mean, there were several large thri-kreen nations north of the Jagged Cliffs, and rumors of a true empire beyond even those...

D&D 5E The Great Avatar Bet: A Longterm Setting Speculation Forum Game

Exactly - though I will say I'd be happy to sacrifice some pages from the monster book to allow more space for the actual campaign setting part. edit: perhaps pedantic to point out, but probably 96 pages - D&D book page counts are always multiples of 16. I assume an accident of the printing /...

D&D 5E The Great Avatar Bet: A Longterm Setting Speculation Forum Game

Honestly, when people originally floated the idea of a boxed / slipcase set, I initially pictured the core slipcase of the PHB / MM / DMG or the Tashas / Xanathars / Mordenkainens sets, and thought to myself, "there's no way in 5e they would give that amount of treatment to any setting, barring...

D&D General DnD cosmology - Which Edition do you prefer?

I'm not sure that's necessarily true - as others pointed out up thread, D&D essentially presents a Manichaean or Gnostic world, where concepts like Good and Evil have physical existence - you can totally punch an angel and have coffee with a demon. Just because something would be pleasing to...

D&D 5E The Great Avatar Bet: A Longterm Setting Speculation Forum Game

You can certainly put me down for team Planescape, but I’m not sure I have a strong opinion on the GH / FR split.

While I also enjoyed the 5e Ravenloft book, admitting you don’t know the old stuff but calling it ‘dumb’ seems a bit silly.

Spelljammer D&D Direct Live Report: 9am PDT (5pm BST) SPELLJAMMER CONFIRMED! DRAGONLANCE!

There's been some grousing over price and page count, but I think an awful lot of people are particularly excited to see Spelljammer and Dragonlance return. ...wat.
