On Dungeons, Lasers, and 3-D Terrain for RPGs

Good looking stuff. But through years of trial with Dwarven-Forge stuff, we've found that 'tall walls' is not very playable at the table. People have to stand-up to see over the walls, or fumble with moving figures around them. We've switched to "2.5D" do-it-yourself stuff found on gaming...

Sea of Dread: More Sea Adventures for D&D

I appreciate the 'Basic D&D' love going on here. It is nice to see ideas for these classic adventures.

Updates on Age of Sigmar RPG Include New Name

Previous previews mentioned AoS would have a different "dice pool" mechanic, which interests me. I wonder how easy it would be to pull that out and insert it into the 'classic' WHFRP...?

Greek-inspired Odyssey of the Dragonlords From ex-Bioware designers On Kickstarter

So much Mythic Greek goodness. I've also backed Arkadia (another 5e mythic Greek Kickstarter). I'm eager to see how these two products compare.

Interview with Zweihander's Daniel D. Fox: Bounded Accuracy Meets WFRPG

Zweihänder has been compared to Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying, with its main strength being that it is not tied to a specific world like Warhammer. What are the other major differences of Zweihänder, compared to Warhammer 4th ed. ?

    Bad Guys Have Adventures Too

Apart from the 'Way of the Wicked' (from the now defunct Fire Mountain Games), are there any other Evil campaigns out there (not just one-shot adventures)?

A New D&D Book in 2019: Acquisitions Incorporated Dungeon Manual!

Acquisitions Incorporated has already made the jump into other D&D products: it is the main theme of the newest release (mod 15) of Neverwinter (a MMO online game). The humor is great (poking a little fun at the game itself: calling adventurers "murderers", some dead interns of the company...

Worlds of Design: When There's Too Many Magic Items

Gandalf: "There are many magic rings in the world, Bilbo Baggins, and none of them should be taken lightly." Perhaps if every magic item also has a drawback? E.g. +1 magic sword, but goblins automatically make the wielder their primary target.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker Is An Isometric RPG Experience

Weren't they trying to make this a MMO (massive multiplayer online) game, several years ago? Did that project die?

There's A New Edition of Savage Worlds Coming!

Like other people have mentioned, I really had no issues with the previous rules that are changing with this new edition (so probably won't purchase it). Our group liked everything about Savage Worlds, except for these two issues (which eventually made us depart from this system): - Wonky math...

Tink-Tink-Boom vs. the Death Spiral: The Damage Mechanic in RPGs

There is also a very cool "optional" death spiral in the rpg "On Mighty Thews" (by Simon Carryer). Like a normal death-spiral system an "injury" comes with game penalties (these are not cumulative with multiple 'injuries'). However, these penalties are not mandatory: a battle might be too risky...

Tink-Tink-Boom vs. the Death Spiral: The Damage Mechanic in RPGs

I think traditional Hit Points (TTB) tends to break-down at high level due to player's suspension of disbelief: "I have over 100 HPs so I can easily walk off that 300-foot cliff." "I have over 100 HPs so I can have 20+ arrows sticking out of me like a pin-cushion from that line of archers"...

Fire Mountain Games - 5 years since funding - communication thread

Followed the links from the Kickstarter messages. I'm an "overlord" backer (US $250). I agree with everyone's comments regarding Gary. However, I would like to praise Michael Clarke, as he did deliver the custom piece of art awarded at that backer level, which takes a little bit of the 'sting'...
