You're the British military. Defend Avalon from my PCs.

The people in charge don't have to. They are using magic to control puppets in the British government. They can do what they want and let their puppets take the fall for it. Sure, heads will roll. There will be courts-martial. The government will probably fall. The Home Secretary, the Prime...

You're the British military. Defend Avalon from my PCs.

The problem with this is the town of Glastonbury, which occupies a ridge extending to the south-east (I think, I get disoriented in the northern hemisphere) of the Tor. You get clear lines of sight and fire over the Levels in every other direction, but an approach through the town has good cover.

How do you figure that? Doubling the diameter quadrulples the surface area and multiplies volume by eight. It also doubles surface gravity, but let's not go there.

Another thing about Eton: not only is it the most socially exclusive of the Britsh 'public' schools, but it provides a huge proportion of officers to the SAS.

Then concrete bunkers are probably out of the question, as you say. But if you whack a bunch of infantry in a location and order them to set up field fortifications they ought all to have foxholes within twenty minutes, and rifle pits, mortar pits, shelter trenches etc. within two hours. Armies...

Not at high pressure though. It is basically sub-artesian.

Not in the British Army. Platoon: Lieutenant or Second Lieutenant. Sergeant. Radio operator. Mortar #1 (lance-corporal) Mortar #2 (private) 3 corporals, each leading a rifle section and a fireteam. 3 lance-corporals, each leading a fire team. 6 light squad weapon gunners (one per fire-team)...

Glastonbury is in Dorset, which is in the territorial responsibility of 3(UK) Division, the 'Iron' Division. Divisional HQ is at Bulford, Wiltshire. So you are certainly going to need to control the divisional CO, Major-General Graham Lamb, and the divisional headquarters. Now by a bit of a...

The British army is not organised like that. There is one type of British regiment that is a group of units with historical links shared traditions, varying in size from a 'regiment' like the 9th Lancers with shares a regiment (battalion-sized group) with another regiment (the 12th Lancers)...

I don't. My adventures aren't about palaeontology, and so far (in over 25 years of GMing) none of my players has ever asked for an explanation. At various stages during the last 2 million years or so there have sometimes been several species of hominid existing at the same time. And if the...

    Pronouns

The problem is that English is falling between two stools. In a language with a complete and vigorous set of genders, the pronoun used for a courier would depend on the gender of the word 'courier' in the same way that the pronoun used for a table depends on the gender of the word 'table'...

    Pronouns

I don't mind seeing genders arbitrarily attached to classes. But I would rather have seen them used to flag some more significant distinction. Maybe players could have been feminine and characters masculine. Or maybe casters could have been feminine and targets (and non-casters in general) could...

In RPGs, Should PCs Be Better Than NPCs By Default?

What Difference Does It Make? Just So Long As Rules Are Available For PCs To Have The Absolute And Relative Power Levels That You Need For Different Campaigns, It Doesn't Matter Which Is the Default And Which Is The Alternative.

Who Else Has Never Been To Gen Con?

I've been to Arcanacon, Sydcon, Necronomicon, CanCon, NecronomiCon, and Phenomenon. I've even presented events at some of those cons. But flying halfway around the world to go to a con seems a bit much.

A name for an elite group

Hmm. It would help to know who is setting this unit up, its financial backer, its political sponsor, what operations it is intended for, whether there is anything unusual about its equipment, etc. etc.. All i know about the US Navy Seals is that they are trained to board and capture ships and...
