    3G: Girls, Girls, Girls

“Sometimes women scare the hell out of me.” – Michael Crichton When I was growing up, there were no girls playing D&D. Nowadays, there are female gamers everywhere I look, and I think that’s fantastic. I know they’ve always been there; you’d be surprised how many of the WizOs on wizards.com...

    3G: Games, Games, Games

Gaming in one form or another has brought all of us to the doorstep of EN World, and I am no exception. I started playing D&D in 1982 with the red box (11th printing) and was instantly hooked. I was the DM for my group, and I’ve continued to DM ever since. In this column I want to...

Now Recruiting: Dark Sun Maptool 4e Game Needs Player(s)!

I play in this game! (I'm the Student of the Way.) Everyone is great to game with, and they're very forgiving of people's schedules. The DM is extremely creative, entertaining, and dedicated to the game. And playing in MapTools is certainly a treat! If you've not tried it and our game isn't...

GMs: What (across all editions) was your favorite adventure to RUN?

I find myself running "The Keep at Koralgesh" from Dungeon #2 every time I launch a campaign with a new group, no matter the edition of D&D I'm running. It seems to be a perfectly balanced low-level dungeon crawl that hits all the elements of D&D I like to highlight in my campaigns. You've...

What Are The Greatest Ever D&D Books For Inspiring Adventures?

I will also third Planescape. Planescape, Planescape, Planescape! Also, I throw out a vote for Oathbound. Extremely imaginative and syncs really well with Planescape. Once more...Planescape, Planescape, Planescape!

Fat Dragon releases new Dungeon Props set!

Just bought this this evening. I admit, I'm a sucker for props. When I play online, I use MapTools with color tokens and objects, and when I play tabletop, I use minis and props. I love Fat Dragon products! My only complaint is I don't always have the money to buy ink! :p

Planning to run Age of Worms AP - Anything I should know about before I start?

I ran "The Whispering Cairn, The Three Faces of Evil, Encounter At Blackwall Keep, The Hall of Harsh Reflections," and "The Champion's Belt" in 3.5E. Our group took a break when 4E came out, and now we're gearing up to return to the Age of Worms, but in 4E. I've already converted "A Gathering...

Did the Brits do it better?

I have very fond memories of running both Beyond the Crystal Cave and All That Glitters as a teenager. One summer at camp I ran All That Glitters three times for three different groups of kids and councilors. I'm excited that Wizards is updating Beyond the Crystal Cave for 4E.

Have you been published in Dragon?

I had a small string of articles published: "Fractious Factions" in Dragon #287 "Open Skies: The Silver Strike Guild" in Dragon #307 "Dweomered Dragon Scales" in Dragon #308 "Searing Flames: The Ecology of the Salamander" in Dragon #314

    4 year anniversary coming up...

Congratulations! I run an online campaign that started in '93, and 4 out of the 8 of us are original members from game 1. Back then we had a player in Australia, one in England, one in California, and two in Tennessee. Now we have two in England, two in New York, one in California, and three...

The Real Housewives/husbands of your RPG Group

My wife first started playing D&D back in high school just to spend time with me. She wasn't really into the game, but she faked it. That kind of dedication made me fall in love with her. :D She's not "into" RPGs, and she won't play if someone else GMs, but she's still in my online 3.5 D&D...

    Converting the Age of Worms

The Whispering Cairn Listening to the Power Source podcast episode #40 yesterday spurred me to check out the Demonomicon, and I stumbled across the 4E version of the back story for the Age of Worms. The Queen of Chaos is now a primordial; she seduced the demon Miska to become her lieutenant...

    Converting the Age of Worms

With the framework from the previous post in place and the inspiration doktor avalanche provided with his breakdown of the adventures, I feel much more comfortable starting at the beginning instead of hopping around. So here's a breakdown of encounters for levels 1-3 of the adventurers'...

    Converting the Age of Worms

Family and work have kept me away from this project; also, my online campaign has been getting a lot of play recently, so my resources have been spent prepping for those sessions instead of working on this conversion. However, I've been on vacation this week and have revisited the topic with a...

What does your ENWorld name mean?

When I first joined wizards.com way back when, I chose the name Oracle. I had it for a week before I was informed that Peter Adkison wanted the name when posting on his site, and I had to pick another. I'd just watched The Neverending Story with daughter #1, so I tacked on Southern. It also...

    Best character name?

I have a player who likes to take an aspect of his character and then spell it backwards to name it. His two most memorable characters were Resu Cigam and Flenus (from a Forgotten Realms game). I'm currently playing a warlock named Ozzy Mandias.
