D&D 4E Poll for 4e DMs: Alignment System

So if the DM in your 4e game revealed that the awesome glowing sword you plundered from the dragon's hoard only served "insert allignment here" creatures, you would think: " Oh cool! that might be something to look in to!" rather than "Heywaitaminute the game mechanics support no such thing...

    [Sell Me On] Nentir Vale

Hi klofft, I don't mean this rudely, but I don't think anyone can sell you on the setting any more than you really need to just decide to use it or not. You really seem to understand it's strengths and weeknesses (if you think there are any) and you seem to understand the products that...

Gardmore Abbey is pretty darn good

MortalPlague , if it is not to much to ask, would that topic be worthy of a separate post? I'd be really interested in that experience, because I have such a limited range of groups I have played with.

Tomb of Horrors is not working out (spoilers)

Yeah, I often "forget" about Passive Perception entirely. The rare time I have used it is to trigger an allowance of the perceptive character to use an active perception (or more salient skill) check. Even that is somewhat clunky.

D&D 4E Poll for 4e DMs: Alignment System

can be useful. Certainly not mandatory to understand someone though. Furthermore, they can be misleading.

D&D 4E Poll for 4e DMs: Alignment System

This is the only Dannyalcatraz post ever that really makes no sense to me. Talk about baby with the bath water. ;) Anyway, for me, alignment has never done anything mechanically to the game. I am not even sure what allignment my players have listed on their character sheets. We do...

D&D 4E Abstracting Wealth in 4e: good idea or bad idea?

The group I play with likes to account for GP. Of course, they also like to account for XP, so those that recommend "ditch XP and level up when appropriate" also don't have purchase with the group. Anyway, as said in reply #2: If the group wants to, sure.

    "You can't assume things"

The phrase: -"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." - applies to quite a lot of words in that conversation.

Steel_Wind , I think you are inadvertantly cluttering the thread with useful product analysis. :p

Help me get WOTC to release Siege of Gardmore Abbey Publicly

Sigdel , I think you are confused. This thread is about the PAX convention adventure titled "Siege of Gardmore Abbey". I think you are referring to the Adventure Site product released this week (and next) titled "Madness at Gardmore Abbey".

Gardmore Abbey is pretty darn good

Yesterday I strolled by a LGS and noticed they had one copy of Mordenkainen's and Three copies of Gardmore Abbey for sale on the shelf. Isn't that a bit early? (I just spent some cash on a few ebay auctions and could not justify the retail cost at the time, so there they sit.)

Cartoons for Geeks Both Young and Old

When I was a kid, I remember "Robotech" being an amazing cartoon. I was engrossed by it. I was around 11 years old. It was unlike anything I had ever seen, and felt very 'sophisticated' to my 11 year old American sensibilities. I Have not seen it in 25 years. I wonder how it holds up, or...

    Hill Gnome (Hobbit) Race

I appreciate work like this (gave you XP for it!) but I always wonder why don't folks just fluff their halfling in to the chunky reclusive hobbit they want to play. It goes the same for classes. Am I the grumpy guy that just thinks there's too may gizmos on these new fangled PCs that kids play...

    She's one of us

I was alarmed at how readily my 8 year old picked up the game, though in retrospect I should not have been. It is after all just make believe with more rules, and make believe is what little kids do best! In any case, the encounters and story lines she likes most involve actively saving...

    COOKING: sometimes, simpler is better.

FWIW, Country Style Ribs are not actually ribs, unless you have a very old school butcher.
