Will lack of 3rd party support affect your 4E play?

I bought a few 3pp, mostly full games. Spycraft, etc. Much of it went completely and totally unused though. The modules were decent, but we never played any because by the time I rewrote them for our campaign, I'd changed so much, and spent so much time on it, I might as well had written from...

    What does FLGS stand for?

Not yet. They only charge for drinks. But it's just something that is going to get done if things don't change soon. Especially with the way gas prices are going up and people are using amazon more and more. But I don't run the place, I don't know. It's just pretty rough to see Amazon...

GSL: Am I wrong to be concerned?

I'm actually more and more concerned the more I read it. Are we banned from publishing adventures even electronically until we get approved?

    What does FLGS stand for?

They do charge for drink. They had to ban food since it seems like people can't seem to be any level of clean back there. They almost banned drink, too, but, gamers without caffeine is bad. As it stands, it's just a receipt check. I don't think they check every product, they just want to see...

    What does FLGS stand for?

Heh :) It's supposed to be F for Favorite (edit: or friendly :) ). I know one thing , though, my FLGS is tending to lean towards being more aggressive towards those kind of customers, and they're actually going to start charging people for playing games not purchased there. Seems he's tired...

    Are the WOTC forums borked?

Nah. IF they wanted to stop people from complaining, they'd just filter the words out or start banning people or put a moratorium up. My suspicion is that they are getting heavily hammered or someone's DDoSing them.

You reap what you sow - GSL.

I have a HUGE clue what I'm talking about. But I'm not going to argue the point any more. WOTC has obviously stepped away from the OGL.

You reap what you sow - GSL.

That wasn't what the intent of Ryan D was, in his repeated instances that this was a new frontier. The long and short of it is this. WOTC gave a LOT of OGC as compared to everyone else. Not a lot of that was returned. The OGL fails when people stop giving stuff back. People stopped giving...

My heroes: Ryan Dancey and Peter Adkison

And that saddened me too. Because, I'm a free software developer. I'm used to people using my stuff and re-releasing it in new forms, all of it under the same open license. Standing on the shoulders of giants, and all that. The OGL was great , and it was good what was done, but the fact is...

You reap what you sow - GSL.

I can't either. It seems like a ton of publishers loved the OGL for their own means, but were unwilling to really sign on for what it means. WOTC gave away their core product, basically, to help other companies. It would have been nice if the other companies acted in kind, but now it seems...

4E adventure for Free RPG Day

I think it's just that they fit in with the new encounter system, they're easy level ones, and they likely got a ton of playtest time , so they're still fresh on the minds, as it were.

Why D&D ISN'T a video game (the hidden rule)

You have got to be kidding. D&D had a solo adventure right in the main part of the game, not even a house rule. Just right there.

    D&D Teams...?

But how would you play competitively? Let me twist the question.. what's stopping this from happening NOW? :P I have uber competitive friends. What stops our game from one night every month , instead of being the campaign, being the "D&D National League" thing? How would you run that? I'm...

    D&D Teams...?

Oh, it'll average out to $15 a month when you have to pay for minis too :)

How were you first introduced to D&D?

On that note, Best Buy has the Cartoon for $40. All 27 episodes ;) Just picked it up this weekend.

    D&D Teams...?

It could be interesting. We do have the D&D Open, though.. but it's limited in where it's run. I'd be curious how you'd run it, though :) Sign me up :) Only.. not through the $15/month DDI with the extra cost for minis.

Look up XCrawl. You might find what you want there :)

It's Gencon 2000 again but now you have 2 choices.

If it's 2000, and I was given JUST the 3.0 Core Set or the 4.0 Core set, I'd have to go with the 4.0. I think a lot of people forget that the 3.0 Core Set was similarly lacking when compared to the bevy of 2.0 stuff. I also think this might be locked due to the moratorium rule.

How were you first introduced to D&D?

Graph paper and D6's and playing cards. I made my own dungeon crawler. We had, at the time, four stats. We had "Offense, Defense, Health, Magic Points." I'd never even heard of D&D. So I typed it all up, got it printed out on my dad's electric typewriter, took it to a copy shop and played...

A friendly challenge to 3.x DMs not sure about 4e

How about this: Just buy Keep on the Shadowfell and give it a run. I mean, seriously, how much money have you spent on splatbooks and the like? It IS standalone. Run that, with the pregens, and see what you think.
