    2 New Classes Announced

I am excited about the new classes - except for the templar, which I don't specifically dislike, so much as not "get" yet well enough to get excited about it. The alchemist sounds like a blast - kind of a Medieval mad scientist, or a n artificer the way it should have been done. The oracle...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder: Which books do you use?

Just core for now to get a feel for the system as a whole. A few things from other sources may creep in as time goes on, such as feats, and maybe modified prestige classes.

    Non-divine class with healing capabilities

I think making an arcane-based "healer" class would be fun. Cherry pick from the Cleric list to find healing and fortifying spells that aren't too focused on alignment, undead-smiting, etc. Similarly browse through through wizard spells for good defensive and utility magic to round things out...

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder - Cool or Interesting Monsters

Excellent question! I'd also like to know what percentage of the monsters are reworked ones from the SRD vs. original creations. If all of the monsters from the SRD are included, as I expect they would be, there's probably not a whole lot of space for new monsters.

    Subtle Rule Changes

Mithral weapons count as silver for purposes of overcoming damage reduction. This one I like, as it gives a good reason for mithral weapons to exist.

Can a rogue sneak attack the ghost of a gelatinous cube?

Ok, thank you, but where may this rule be found?

Can a rogue sneak attack the ghost of a gelatinous cube?

I understand that more creatures are vulnerable to sneak attack now, but I didn't think that meant all creatures. The text does not give any exceptions, however. Is it just taken on a case-by-case basis based on the monster entry now, or what? Further, if a creature is immune to critical...

    Ok, I like it

Apart from PCs, the bloodlines are a way-cool way to make enemy sorcerers more unique. I can picture the aberrant bloodline being nice flavor for a sorcerer of an Underdark race, for example. Also, I have a funny character concept for a high CHA, low INT Half-orc sorcerer with the aberrant...

    Subtle Rule Changes

If you are very familiar with 3.5, it is easy to overlook some of the rule changes if you do not look closely enough, since you skim more, and assume that you know how it works already. Here are a couple of examples that I noticed off the top of my head: * Paladins and Rangers cast at their...

    Ok, I like it

That's possible, but it is also possible that the tentacle can only manifest during spellcasting, anyway: the magical energies coursing through the body cause the aberrant traits to manifest briefly.

    Non-core Gestalt Options

Evasion, Uncanny Dodge and Improved Uncanny Dodge were the main ones I was thinking of, but there's also Improved Evasion, Defensive Roll and Slippery Mind in the list of special abilities for higher-level rogues as well.

    Non-core Gestalt Options

The other gestalt thread covers core classes plus Expanded Psionics Handbook, so I thought I'd start one for interesting combos involving the newer base classes in the game. A couple of ones that sound interesting to me: Duskblade/Rogue: He would have to stick with light armor, but the good...

Arcane Channelling on Full Attack (Duskblade)

If I go for the single target only affected once interpretation, I was thinking of having it overlap, so that spell damage is rolled each time, and if it is above the previous amount it does that much more to that target so that there is at least a small benefit in these cases.

Arcane Channelling on Full Attack (Duskblade)

How do you interpret the duskblade's 13th-level ability to channel a touch spell on every attack on a full attack? Here is the wording of the ability: To me "affects each target you hit" implies that each opponent can only be affected by the spell once, even if he is hit multiple times in the...

    Helping a player

Fighter with both Improved Unarmed Strike and Superior Unarmed Strike. The latter feat is from the Tome of Battle, and lets unarmed damage to scale up to 2d6 at 20th level for non-monks. This can be further increased with the Improved Natural Attack feat from the Monster Manual to do damage as...

Feat suggestions for aspiring Arcane Trickster?

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I was unaware of the Sniper's Shot spell; seems like it would go well with her Improved initiative feat to get in at least one sneak attack before closing with the enemy. Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot seem like good options, too, and I found another...

Feat suggestions for aspiring Arcane Trickster?

I have a player with a Halfling Rogue 3 / Sorcerer 3 planning on taking the Arcane Trickster prestige class who just got the 3rd level of sorcerer. I am looking for suggestions for her for a good 6th-level feat and/or future feats to consider. Currently she has Improved Initiative and...

    Need fey plot ideas

My creativity seems to be on vacation right now, so I'm going to attempt to tap into everyone else's. ;) Right now I am running a campaign in a "Gilligan's Island" kind of setting: it's on a remote island in the Realms where a slaver ship got marooned some 40 years ago, and the survivors...

So, the DM Wants His Girlfriend to Play....

My wife is in my group, and if there were any doubts about favoritism, these were banished when her character was killed. It wasn't me trying too hard to not show favoritism, either; just the way the dice landed. In reality having her in the group has caused no issues whatsoever, so I...

    Little Known Rules of D&D

I'd like to know, too. I couldn't find anything about the critical hit rule in the SRD.
