as for vtt d20 pro and foundry are good alternatives to roll20. But I think based on your needs owlbear is the way to go

Check out world anvil. It’s not going to generate what your describing for you but it’s a good place to start your writing and the different article types have prompts and fields on them to inspire you
All choices have consequences, let thing happen as they unfold. If the tpk then the next campaign you can have years progress and make the world into a different place based on their failure and have them live in this new world they created
