Guide to the Qinggong Monk (Ultimate Magic)

Yeah, and on re-reading the feat, you probably don't get a ranged full attack as a swift action. prototype00

Guide to the Qinggong Monk (Ultimate Magic)

Shennanigans, like I said. Enlarged person stacked with strong jaws (which doesn't explicitly count as a size increase, if I remember correctly). Requires some finagling (I recommend trying to swing a druid follower), but doable, I think. But yeah, you're right about the greater vital strike...

Guide to the Qinggong Monk (Ultimate Magic)

I kind of like the "quicken spell like ability" / "True strike" combo when combined with improved vital strike and other size increase shennanigans. At 20th level a guaranteed to hit 24d8 + trimmings attack 3/day is nothing to be sniffed at. prototype00

Warlock's Shadow Walk Ability in Combat?

Just as an aside, you have to move 3 squares to activate the warlock's shadow walk ability, so you take a -5 penalty to stealth rolls. (For moving more than 2 squares). So its basically making an untrained stealth check. prototype00

Warrior of the Wild quarry valid till end of encounter?

Apparently, WotC meant for it to be used only once like the sneak attack power you get from the rogue multiclass. prototype00

Hiding the PHB from players - Cool or Restrictive?

I think the result of the polls speaks for itself. Down with fat cat authoritarian DMs!!! The faceless nameless PC proletariat demands Crunchiness!!! prototype00

Warlord At-Will Powers level 1 via June Preview

So lets see if I get this right... 1.) Sticky fighter stands next to Big Bad 2.) Warlord stands behind sticky fighter with reach weapon (spear, halberd, e.t.c.) 3.) Warlord is in "melee" range with big bad and thus can give Fighter ally extra attacks with this ability. 4.) Or Warlord could just...

D&D 4E 4e Multiclassing and Characters from Fiction

I just realized that with his charisma, warlock might be a slightly better fit, not that he isn't smart as all get out (he is, and scarily so), but the knowing Names in that world seems to leave you quite insane by the end of it. Did they say much about swordplay in the book? I must have missed...

D&D 4E 4e Multiclassing and Characters from Fiction

Kvothe the Bloodless Wizard (or possibly warlock, I'm having trouble categorizing Sympathy, whereas knowing the Name of the Wind definitely seems slightly warlock-ish, in terms of straight power) with Sneak of Shadows. (Possibly also took Skill Training: Bluff and Skill Training Diplomacy)...

    MM excerpt: phane

That line of reasoning makes a lot of sense, Upper Krust. *I'm also buoyed up by even more evidence that PCs will get 1/2 level to damage* prototype00

    MM excerpt: phane

So you're of the opinion that the PCs might get half level to damage? I admit I'm a bit confused as to where you're currently standing on that point. Good point about the war devils though, mean buggers. prototype00

    MM excerpt: phane

You're kidding right? The smiley you're using is a casual indication of your chiding jocularity, right? And not a mockery of my twisting guts as I read your ill omened words? prototype00

    MM excerpt: phane

Well, actually according to the new monster development article, for every two levels you add to a monster, you also add +1 damage to it. Now it seems to me like the wotc team used a bit of handwavium to generate the original phane (it has other advantages that compensate for its low damage...

Will CON become a dump stat?

Apparently *as far as I can recall* the number of healing surges that you get is dependent on your con. Thats a big deal. prototype00

    DMG Excerpt: Customizing Monsters

Anyone else notice that monsters get +1 to damage for every two levels? Certainly bodes well for PC damage increasing with level (ala the str mod +1/2 level SWSE rules). Awesome. prototype00

    D&D 4E 4E weapon damage

Maybe I'm crazy for saying this, but it could be a bit from column A (the stat +1/2 level) and a bit from column B (for those classes that are really attached to their weapons, like the fighter). prototype00

    D&D 4E 4E weapon damage

Hi all, In 4E weapon damage is often in the format of 1[W] + str/dex/cha. I was just wondering if the +str/dex/cha would be in the same format as everything else, that is 1/2 character level + stat mod. (Kinda like SWSE I would suppose) Has there been any indications as to what it will...
