    RANT: Attacks of Opportunity

In other threads, everybody wants to talk about charisma skill use and stat use not being taken into consideration when playing their character. Why is it ok to move one's finger along them map to move their stupid fighter through the most AoO friendly path? That seems counter intuitive...

    Why aren't potions labeled?

Medieval combat medics worked with herbs and roots, so I suppose they wouldn't need to label such things as they are the ones who had to collect them in the wild. Medics in the civil war era worked mostly with a saw, so no..I think they would know a saw when they see one. I've not found...

    Why aren't potions labeled?

I wonder how many people label their tea or juice before putting it in the fridge. I know what it is by color and smell. No reason to label it other than for expediency. If I found a jug of purple beverage in an abandoned alleyway, would I drink it or try to figure out what it was first...

    WotC & Their Adventures

I'm glad they are producing modules again. Even though many 3rd parties have great adventure modules, it seems the ones WoTC produces are the ones discussed most fondly when gathered around at conventions or game stores or when meeting new player friends...a common yet separate experience with...

Players refusing to play within GM's ruling/narrative?

True. But if their plot up to this point involved book publishing, one could assume they (as a group) had some interest in it. Here's a couple of stabs at it: Player (as character): "I'm planning to send the first case published over to Universal Studios...they are itching to have anything on...

Players refusing to play within GM's ruling/narrative?

Me, the DM: Ok, so you've broken into the massive complex of the supermegaconglomerate, and accessed their central mainframe! What do you do? Player: I'll start hacking into the system. My character has been itching to do this for years! I sit down at the computer and place my keycard into...

Combat in D&D is too fast

low level fast..high level slow Yeah, combat at low levels is fast. Its when one gets to the mid levels that it begins to slow down. Mostly with all the extraneous magical stuff going on. Bless, bain, shield, protection from evil, bulls strength, true strike, hallow, unhallow, darkness...

The 10-foot pole, antithesis of what adventuring should be?

JRR does wear shorts and tshirts in freezing weather, I've saw it...I wouldn't do it, but I have saw it. The guy has as much hair on his legs and arms as a mangy black bear, so he can stand weather that I (and many of you) could not. Besides, homeless folk survive without those winter...

The 10-foot pole, antithesis of what adventuring should be?

My character always brought a 12 foot pole...just to make fun of the characters who only had 10 foot poles. Truthfully, I've not bothered with 10 poles since the early 1E days, but the sectioned pole has been on the character sheet a time or two since then. They come in handy...

"Try Castles & Crusades", they say. But no one's playing it!

castles and crusades We tried Castle and Crusades for a while. I both DM'd and played several sessions. While as a DM, I really..really..really liked the prep time and the ability to pick up a 1st ed module and run it with little conversion, as a player I found it lacking. Just not enough...

Against the Cult of the Reptile God - your experiences?

captured parties Great Module!!! Has anyone ever ran this without the party being captured? I'm in the process of running it for 2 separate groups. One was captured in the Golden Grain, the other when they tried to infiltrate the temple.

    Gamma World - Thoughts? Review?

Gamma World D20 I too bought Gamma World d20, tried to read it, and immediately sold it on eBay. It was not even close to the original Gamma World and was poorly written. Yuck!!!! Thank goodness for ebay.

    Revision Spotlight on Gnomes

bardic knowledge Practical jokes and bardic knowledge don't mix well I think. Neither does talking to burrowing animals and fascinating crowds at taverns. I don't like the new favored class. Every other favored class fits the stereotype. How many gnomish bards have you ran into in your...
