What's the most useless abilities in the game?

I'm actually glad they included template-type powers on minions. Especially that one since my party has a psion that moves people around like chess pieces. It's those little corner cases that we all seem to fall into that make us come back here to EnWorld and bitch that X is broken because it...

    Attacking while climbing ?

You can attack while climbing with no penalties. There are no restrictions on weapon/power use either. Climbing also doesn't require anything like a free hand, only the ability to move. If you are climbing, you grant CA and must make skill checks, unless you have a climb speed. Only thing that...

    Mass Combat

Personally, I use OBE's HBI:Armies too, with a bunch of additional rules stolen from the original Battlesystem boxed set (my all-time favorite D&D mass-combat system.) Some of the things I added: Climbing assault ladders Grappling hooks Siege engines & wall damage Unique creatures (like...

Can you use sensing eye to determine the sight of sensing eye?

Sensing Eye is personal, but any power cast "through" it, isn't.

Can you use sensing eye to determine the sight of sensing eye?

It doesn't say you actually see anything more than you already do, just that your square for determining LOS changes.

    Help with retro 1E game...

Some ideas from my experience back then. * Make sure to include the Comeliness ability so the players can hit on female elf NPC's. * Make sure to have a huge ancient red dragon on standby for when the PC's thwart your plans or just piss you off in general. * Make sure your adventure can come...

I need some interesting dice recipes

Add in a few tiny d4's and call it exfoliating soap. Toss a few pennies in the soap and label them: "My hate of bo2 know no limit"

Evil Campaigns: How do you feel about them?

This begs the question: does sand-boxing promote evil play? Or is it just the preferred format since story-driven games run such a high risk of imploding with evil players?

Evil Campaigns: How do you feel about them?

I've played in a few evil campaigns many years ago and disliked them all. Unfortunately, my experience has been that either children or adults with the emotional level of a child are drawn to evil games and will infect any "adult" attempt to have an evil game. I might play a one-off game, but a...

    a question about movement

In addition, its often beneficial to use your action point at the beginning of your turn, especially when you reach paragon and get AP benefits.

    A little help on shaman

Causes fits at LFR or Encounters games where the DM has never seen one before. Talk about bringing a game to a grinding halt as the DM gets a crash course on spirit companions. :p

    Invisible Cover

Creatures and Cover: When you make a ranged attack against an enemy and other enemies are in the way, your target has cover. Your allies never grant cover to your enemies, and neither allies nor enemies give cover against melee, close, or area attacks.

    Invisible Cover

I'd rule yes. Cover is cover. Now, I'd adjust the player's roll in my head by -2 to see if it actually hit. If the player somehow KNOWS that his roll should have hit (based upon previous attack success or failure) then he should be allowed to have some kind of "ah ha!" moment, whether its an...

    Wrecking Classic Adventures

Details may be fuzzy since I don't have the original modules anymore and this was 20+ yrs ago. . . I played in a fast-tracked version of the GDQ series in high school. We finished D3 and had just battled all the drow at the end (Egg of Lolth encounter area??) The next step was to go into the...

    Games with randomness before decisions

I believe TSR's old Top Secret RPG handled hand-to-hand combat this way. You picked an attack and a defense, your opponent picked theirs and then you rolled and compared results and determined the damage/effects, if any. :erm:

    PC Body Switch: Bad Idea?

Personally, I think it would be pretty fun, assuming I didn't get stuck playing a class I didn't like. But I would think you'd have to adjust encounters a bit to account for the unfamiliarity. I know if some of the guys at my table got handed my Shaman's character sheet, they'd be like "huh...
