    Farewell to thee D&D

The atmosphere of EN World has taken a turn for the worse since the release of 4E. It saddens me that threads like this one are far from isolated events. The community used to be much friendlier here, but it seems to me that EN World is almost as hostile as rpg.net nowadays. I am...

4e A different type of disconnect??

Unfortunately I feel very much the same way that the OP does about 4E. I was all ready to jump on the 4E bandwagon, but then I read the books and played the game, and it left me with a cold empty feeling in the pit of my stomach. There are too many details to the 4E systems that jar me out of...

Will the 4e forum be merged with the General one?

Are there plans to un-separate the 4e and the General forums in the near future? Before the 4e announcement, I used to spend a lot more time in the General forum. Now I find that I visit it very rarely since it seems to have drastically dropped in interesting threads (IMO). So I am hoping...

Is it me, or does the new roper pic seem to be covered in phallus shaped growths?

    Riverine Halflings = Cajuns ??

I kind of like the idea. Halflings have always been portrayed as simple, down-to-earth folk. A Cajun culture works for me. What if there is also a class of halfling folk that still hold to the glorious past. Back when halflings had a great, far flung empire, and their current lands are...

    Daily Art Preview

I like the design of the white dragon, but its pose looks off to me. There is no sense of weight. It looks like it should be impossible it to stand like it is (with only its left legs supporting it) on the sloping ground. The feet that are in contact with the ground don't really appear to be...

    Is "Justiciar" the new "Rogue?"

I am probably missing some sort of long standing argument on this matter, but isn't it supposed to be derived from the Spanish word for witch? If so, wouldn't it be pronounced “broo-hah”, with a trilled "r"?

One million signatures and Uwe Boll will quit directing

I am not sure that I'm down with the (implied) Spielberg love. If Steven Spielberg directed a Star Wars film, the Jedi would end up waving around walkie-talkies instead of light sabers.

One million signatures and Uwe Boll will quit directing

Nature abhors a vacuum. Even if Uwe Boll does quit directing, some equally untalented hack will immediately step up to fill his place. At least we have identified Uwe Boll as a threat (to sanity, good taste, kittens), and can easily avoid the drek he creates.

That is more, or less, the Exalted setting. Great setting. Carp system.

Arthur C Clark Dies, Age 90

Nooo!!! Why are the good always taken so young? Someone should make a good movie adaption of Childhood's End.

Gargoyle and Ettin preview at WotC

Does that mean 4E is FATAL influenced?

    Goblin Picador

Now that actually seems to be closer to a picador. I have been somewhat confused as to why a harpoon wielding goblin is named after a horse-riding, lance wielding, bull-fighter. From what I have seen, I would liken the Goblin Picador more to a banderillero, who uses small barbed spears, but...

    D&D 4E Why Keep a Grid? Measurement in 4E

Good idea (I am not a wargamer).

    D&D 4E Why Keep a Grid? Measurement in 4E

Without a grid of some sort how would one track the path (and expenditure) of movement? How do you measure the movement of someone running in an "S" pattern? I think it would end up arbitrary, or way too complicated.

Gary Gygax has passed. RIP beloved father of RPG's. (merged)

Considering how I usually feel about death, I am surprised by how much I actually feel about Gary Gygax’s death. While I never met him in person, I exchanged several letters with him. He was a considerate and gracious man, and he was a father of a hobby, which I love. I offer my condolences to...
