    D&D 5E D&D Spellbook Cards Preview

They do seem useful for streamlining spell selection and keeping track of what the spell caster has available. I'm so inspired by seeing the effort so many of you guys go to in order to make the game more enjoyable for players. These cards seem like another great way to do that. I'm in.

    D&D 5E Have you played 5E yet?

I voted yes, even though our first session with the Starter Set isn't until Friday night. We have a full table, and everyone is really excited. The plan is for this to be a weekly group. Most of us haven't played for years, but are excited for 5E.

D&D 5E Basic already surprising us.

As a player returning from a 25-year hiatus, having played mostly AD&D, I'm surprised at how clear and simply stated the rules are. The more specific rule supersedes the more general one. If you have an advantage, that's it. You don't have to spend half an hour determining how big the plus or...

    D&D 5E Next Campaigns

We're playing through the Starter Set, and will pick up Tyranny of Dragons when Horde of the Dragon Queen drops next month. If we need a one-off adventure, there's always The Wizards Amulet, Frog Gods, which is a free adventure that starts at 1st level. I'm backing Necromancer Games Kickstarter...

    D&D 5E Necromancer Games - 3 5E books announced!

Wait, isn't the Book of Lost Spells unlocked at $45,000? If so, as of this writing, we still need $10,759 to unlock it. The project has currently raised $34, 241. I hope we get there. I'm backing all three books, and eagerly awaiting them. My table is full, and they're ready to take on as much...

D&D 5E Suggestions for running Lost Mine of Phandelver with small party?

I'm in a similar situation. I have four players. Half are new, while the others are experienced players. I was thinking of running one of the fighters as an NPC hireling. I'm still hoping to round up one more player. My other thought is to have one of the experienced players run two PCs.

D&D 5E Phandelver Pregen PDF's or Scanns? And the state of the online Support.

Mike, your Starter Set maps are gorgeous. They are a welcome addition to my game, and I will likely make a poster of the Phandalin map for display in my office. I have a rookie DM question about using the untagged maps in-game. It doesn't seem appropriate to show players the full map, as they...

D&D 5E How would you preface D&D to newbies for their first time?

I like the gambler's rush angle. I hadn't thought of that. We have some new players in the group I'm running through the Starter Set beginning next week. I had a pretty good handle on describing the game, but this adds a nice touch to the roll playing aspect. Thanks, Jake

What a beautiful interface and efficient design. I can't wait to start working with it.

D&D 5E Phandelver Pregen PDF's or Scanns? And the state of the online Support.

I'm going to pay, even though the price is higher than the cost of the Starter Set plus shipping. The map quality is fantastic, and I do believe they will enhance the playing experience.

D&D 5E Codename: Morningstar Beta Sign Ups OPEN!

I recall seeing something about the product being cloud-based. If so, perhaps it will be possible to connect using multiple platforms. I share your hope that this will be the case. I can imagine doing game prep and post game updating on a PC, and using a tablet at the table.

    D&D 5E Necromancer Games - 3 5E books announced!

Are any of you guys coming back to D&D after a long break, as I am? This Kickstarter project is important and worthwhile to me in part because its creators express a set of values I'm striving to embody in my game. Never mind the fact that the content sounds extremely compelling. I will...

    D&D 5E 5E Podcasts?

The Tome Show looks good. I'm giving it a try. Thanks for sharing it.

    D&D 5E 5E Podcasts?

For me it's the wildly inconsistent mic levels that create the biggest challenge. I made it through about 20 minutes of the WotC play through of the Starter Set before I had to give up. I like the content, but the production seems pretty rough. To be fair, it would be a ton of work to do it...

    D&D 5E 5E Podcasts?

I agree that you can learn as a DM by watching/listening to podcasts. In their play-through of the Starter Set, the WoTC guys improvised table tents for keeping track of initiative. It's a simple thing, but I hadn't thought of it. I'm doing it now, though.

D&D 5E Starter Set from Amazon arrived

It seems like the carrier should have updated your shipping status. I was under the impression that "out for delivery" meant the product was physically on the truck. Admittedly, I'm a spaz about such things. I would give Amazon a call and get them to conference in a representative from the...

    D&D 5E Starter Set impressions

My Starter Set dice are still in the plastic bag. I'm going to take them to work and allow them to join the ranks of the cubicle toys.

D&D 5E Starter Set from Amazon arrived

I made the mistake of calling my wife at noon to see if mine had arrived. Of course it had, and I had to wait a few hours before I could come home and start reading. I think I'm going to take the day off when the PHB and Tyranny of Dragons ship next month.

D&D 5E Twitter Pic from Mearls Showing PHB Arrival

Given the clarity and concision of the Basic Rules, I'm optimistic that the PBH will be easy to use and take a balanced approach to content. I'm hoping descriptive text is kept tight. There's plenty of room for expanding with books that cover more options and dig deeper down the road.
